This is Part II of 33 Lessons From My 33rd Year. Part of my intention with doing this two-part series was really personal and also alchemical. I had been thinking about writing a blog post, 33 Lessons From My 33rd year, but it felt daunting. Then when I realized I deleted the episode that was supposed to go live on Sept 4, it felt like an opening. We even ended up moving the episode we had planned for today.

This is how life works when you listen to your Wild Soul. It’s a dance of peaceful action and surrender to life’s mysterious way of unfolding and letting us know what wants to happen. In my experience I find this is what free will is for. To say yes and roll with it when it’s obvious, or say no and do whatever you want.

This episode goes live on Monday 9/11 and my birthday is this coming Thursday 9/14. Many will listen to this long after those dates, so I’m invoking some divine support, and the wisdom of my higher soul to declare that energetically, by telling these stories and sharing these lessons and reflections now, I am putting all the energy and attachments of these things that do not serve my highest and best behind me under grace in perfect ways.

These episodes are an honoring and completion of what was, what has fertilized, and what is new, next, and unfolding. To be able to share these stories, from a more healed and neutral place, with mega compassion for everyone involved, while also not holding back my truth, feels important. It’s something I need to practice more, while also balancing what feels right to keep private or sacred.

Life involves other people and navigating that can be sticky sometimes, but it’s not an excuse to hide.

So that’s some behind the scenes stuff. And reflections on sharing reflections, haha. Enjoy!

After a heavy and intense week all over the world, the medicine of Inner Strength, Protection, and Fierceness that the Goddess Durga brings felt like the perfect medicine for this week's Sunday Sermon.

In this episode I read you some writings about Durga from Sally Kempton and Aurobino Ghose, share my own experience of embodying this archetype and calling on her powerful energy, and guide you through the Fierce Feminine ritual from the Wild Soul Oracle deck. I also share the story of why I saved that card for last when I was writing the guidebook and my own fear around revealing a deeper part of my true nature through writing the ritual itself. Enjoy and please share with friends who could use the energy during these times! xo

When I pressed record on this episode I wasn't sure how long it would take. I also had no idea how cathartic it would be, or how much I needed to do this to powerfully and intentionally close out my wildest year yet. It's split into two parts - this is part one, Lessons 1-18. Part II will go up next week. May it be useful.

The last year has been one of the most significant, intense, healing, revealing, challenging, and miraculous of my life. Much of that was painted by ending a long term relationship with an emotionally abusive and highly narcissistic person, facing my own codependency, and working through everything that came with that. A lot of it also arose out of recalibrating my identity and reclaiming my power and truth. Many of these lessons also revolved around gaining a deeper understanding of compassion and applying it to every area of my life.

Compassion doesn't mean tolerating bad behavior or not telling the whole truth about things when the timing is right and it's healthy. Compassion doesn't mean protecting people who don't protect you. Compassion is about acceptance in it's highest form. It's about deeply questioning things AND accepting things. Compassion invites us to listen to our souls and take action that aligns with our values. At least that's how compassion has wanted to weave itself into the fabric of my life over the last year.

In the last year I also identified some shifts that were needing to happen in my business and marketing practices. And in a clearer way than ever, I saw where I hadn't been acknowledging and integrating deeper collective issues into my life, message and work. I have learned a lot and continue to learn how to can engage with these issues in a more useful way for the WHOLE, rather than just myself, or the people in, "my bubble." Life is so freaking full and everything touches everything else.

This sermon is inspired by three powerhouse women I got to interview for the show this week: Kelly Diels, Sonya Renee Taylor, and L'Erin Alta. They are all doing their own form of activism in the world and they are all rocking it out with fierceness AND compassion, which is why their work is effective. A big lesson I learned in this last year, is the difference between compassion and tolerance. I’ll riff on that more during my 33 lessons in my 33rd year episode, but the crux is this, we can be compassionate, while demonstrating intolerance for things that do not align with our values.

The core of today's sermon is a reading from Alana Fairchild's Mother Mary Oracle deck. It's my very favorite deck. The question I asked before I pulled the card was, "What is something we all need to know about compassion right now?" And the card I got is called, "Our Lady of Peaceful Change" #youcantmakethisshitup Enjoy and share wild loves, thank you so much!

Light Watkins is a former fashion model turned meditation teacher. He was raised in the South, has lived in New York City and Los Angeles, and has traveled extensively. He brings a ton of perspective from a wealth of experience, in a super calm, direct, and grounded way. Relax and enjoy this interview, wild ones. We talked about different forms of meditation and which ones work best for which people. Light walked me through some really interesting scientific facts about meditation (don't worry - we didn't get too technical!), and what the four catalysts for distress are. We got into boredom, connection, and happiness. AND!! He shared a really awesome story of a trip he took to Paris many years ago that was filled with synchronicity (our favorite!).

About Light Watkins:

Light has been operating in the meditation space since 1998, first as a practitioner, then as an apprentice to his Vedic Meditation teacher, and finally as a teacher himself. He's currently based in Santa Monica, CA, but travels the world giving talks on happiness, mindfulness, inspiration, and meditation, as well as leading popular meditation trainings and retreats.

His passion is to teach people simple tools for increasing happiness. To date, Light has taught meditation to thousands through his live courses, books, and online trainings. He's taught at Apple, Soho House, Summit, and several tech start-ups around the U.S. His first book, The Inner Gym (L&G), is a 30-day "inner workout" for strengthening happiness, and his upcoming book, Bliss More: How to Succeed in Meditation Without Really Trying (Penguin), is a straight-talk how-to book that teaches busy professionals how to enjoy meditation.

Light contributes to multiple wellness blogs and writes a popular daily email called Light's Daily Dose of Inspiration. Light's TEDx talk has garnered hundreds of thousands of views, and he is the founder of The Shine Movement, a global pop-up inspirational variety show on a mission to share the stories of regular people who are making a difference in the world.

In this episode, Light shares:

1. Why reverence for a practice enhances the practice
2. Why flossing your teeth is like meditation
3. The difference between actual meditation and meditative activities

This week's Sunday Sermon opens up with a prayer and ends with a poem. Between the two I explore the concept and symbolism of spirals and how they show up and impact our lives and our thoughts. When we increase our awareness of the spiral nature of life, it's much easier to have faith, build trust, and surrender in the day to day. We better understand that life, progress, and existence simply aren't linear. From there I explored the relationship between faith, trust, and surrender by revisiting, deconstructing and refining views I've previously held. Enjoy - and here's the poem:

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE GUEST
The hand sat in the classroom
Of the eye

And soon learned to love
Beauty.

The sky sat in the classroom
Of God

And now look what it gives us at night:
All that is learned.

There was a time when man
Was so burdened with survival
That he rarely bathed in dancing sounds.

But dear ones,
Now drop your pointed shields that wound.

What happens to the guest who visits the house
Of a great musician?

Of course his tastes become refined.

There are some who can visit
That Luminous Sphere that reveals
This life never
Was,

The truth of that experience
Is reserved for so
Very few;

God draws back like a kite
Some of those who get lost in the Sun

And after their recovery
From being sublimely independent,
Having known the Unspeakable Union--

They might try again with all their courage
To sing a simple tune like this:

"What happens to the guests who keep visiting
The verse of a Perfect One?

Their voices and cells become refined
And like the soft night candle (the moon)

They begin to give this world
All the light they have
Learned."

Your hand sits in the classroom
Of God,

An apprentice as Hafiz was,
Mastering the crave of
Divine beauty

As this earth spins on
The Potter's
Wheel.

Today's guest recently published her first book, Grief Unveiled, and I've been looking forward to having her on the show since the idea for this book was just a seedling. I remember being on the phone with her and saying she must message me as soon as it was ready to be alive in the world so we could talk about it on the show. Grief is a deeply personal, intimate, and tender topic, and Sarah comes from a place of wanting to rebel against grief "as we know it." Sarah is a veteran and military widow with four children, who found herself seeking a solution that didn't exist. Her perspective on grief is that it doesn't have to only be about survival or stress management, and that it's entirely possible to create a thriving life (and not dishonoring or disrespectful to anyone's memory). This is what she's done, and in today's episode she's sharing her story, her experience, and how she now helps other widows through the experience as well. It's a fascinating and delicate conversation - if you're currently grieving anything or anyone in your life right now, please be extra gentle with yourself as you listen and stay close to your own heart.

About Sarah Nannen:

Sarah Nannen is a grief coach and the author of Grief Unveiled. Based on her own experiences and those of her clients, she writes candidly about the intense shadowland of widowhood and grief’s many layers. She is the founder of an online grief coaching program dedicated to shifting the negative paradigm surrounding grief toward one of hope and possibility. While honoring the painful terrain that must be navigated in grief with intention, Sarah boldly challenges the limiting cultural mythology of widowhood in her work.

Sarah’s up and coming podcast Grief Unveiled: An Inside Look at Widowhood continues the exploration far beyond the scope of this book.

In addition to life coaching, Sarah is a yoga teacher and reiki practitioner who is fascinated by the human capacity for healing and wholeness. Sarah is a veteran and military widow who lives in central Illinois with her four children. In her “spare time” you’ll find her teaching yoga, traveling, or playing hard with her family.

In this episode, Sarah shares:

1. Making and claiming space for yourself as you grieve
2. Helpful and non-helpful things you can say and do for someone who is grieving
3. The importance of friendship, [sisterhood] and connection during hard times

In today's Sunday Sermon, I open up with one of my very favorite prayers, Judy Sion's Invocation to the Cosmic Mother. The rest of our time together is about developing and engaging with a non-human spiritual support system. Think of this as forming a cosmic support squad, or my favorite way, a personal pantheon. I briefly talk about what my pantheon is comprised of and how I interact with these Divine beings, messengers, energies, archetypes, and guides in waking life and in the dream world. Enjoy and tell me who's in your squad in the comments!

Today's guests are dear friends of mine and two of the most dynamic and creatively expressed people I know - Renee Airya and Akira Chan. I was especially excited to interview them together as they are both a couple, and co-founders of a production company. They live together, they work together, and they do an amazing job at maintaining their sovereignty. We talked a lot about creativity in this interview, from creative processes, to using creativity as a form of self-care, and how to communicate things to yourself through creativity. We covered rituals to be more creative, and explored the intersection between health, creativity AND productivity. We also got into identifying your "passion wheelhouse" and being a creative channel. This is definitely a "listen more than once" kind of episode. Enjoy!

About Renee Airya and Akira Chan:

Akira Chan & Renee Airya are the creative couple behind RARE Media & Creative Agency. RARE stands for Revolutionary, Artistic, Relevant & Enchanting. Tired of ugly media? RARE creates uncommonly captivating art, music videos, on-line program launches and documentaries. Bonus: They understand business and marketing! And enthusiastically captain a global production team that captures impactful stories and weaves them into visual productions that look good and amplify each client’s worthy message and mission. Their clients include Bulletproof, Chopra Center, Lifebook/Mindvalley and Artists for Addicts to name a few.

RARE’s beginnings are rooted in Renee and Akira’s own RARE Love story, an odyssey that stems from their complimentary skill sets and the dance of masculine and feminine energy of the duo. They enhance each other’s creative and productive energy. Together, their dedication has set a purposeful foundation for their relationship, their life’s work and their individual expression. They hope to inspire other creative’s (and couples) who run businesses together.

In this episode, Renee and Akira share:

1. Your life is not a deliverable
2. Creating from dis-ease or non-health
3. What mental health has to do with stability and creativity
4. Why focus, discipline, commitment and routine are MUCH sexier in practice than they sound in theory

Aug 13, 2017

This is the first of many Sunday Sermons to come. I am so so excited to share this new type of episode with you all today.

Since we launched in May 2015 I've experimented with some extra types of episodes, listener Q+A, Thirsty Thursday interviews (a bit off topic but stuff I know you're interested in...etc) and none of them have ever felt as ALIVE to me as the regular episodes...UNTIL the idea for Sunday Sermons dropped in.

These will be shorter solo episodes, 10-20 minutes, where I do oracle readings, share my favorite prayers, poems and excerpts from what I'm reading. I'll explore creative and inspiring ideas, thoughts and ruminations for you to be nourished and fed by going into your week.

They are going to be super juicy.

Think of it as wild and untamed gospel, heart ponderings, and delicious morsels of wisdom to spark your own truth, power, and love, from my Wild Soul to yours.

Today for our first Sunday Sermon, I'm opening up with the Wild Soul Woman Manifesto and sharing the Remembering, Reflection questions, Mantra and Ritual for Card #16 in the Wild Soul Oracle Deck - the Break the Lineage card (pictured below)

Enjoy and please share with anyone whom you know will resonate with the message.

If you've never heard of Anita Moorjani before, she is an extraordinary woman with an incredible story and treasure trove of wisdom to share. In 2006, she died of cancer. You read that right. She came back and now shares the story openly of what happened "on the other side" through speaking engagements and books. Back in 2014 I listened to her first book, "Dying To Be Me" and it had a deep impact on me. So much so that when I started reading her second book, "What if this is Heaven?" a few months ago, and had the thought, "I would LOVE to interview her!" I actually felt a bit intimidated.

It was a real honor to spend an hour with Anita and get to reflect more intimately on her experience of living since dying. We talked about the difference between human love and unconditional love. She shared how over-giving, over-functioning, guilt and fear contributed to her excruciating four-year cancer experience. We talked about what it was like returning to her body, how she works with her inner guidance now, and why this earth experience is necessary. And I especially appreciated her exploration of "health awareness," as often (not always), what is being called "healthcare" is more like "illness scare."

Enjoy this episode, and please share if it you find it inspiring, learn something new, or remember something valuable!

SIDE NOTE: A few weeks back when Keli Garza was on the show talking about Vaginal Steaming, we talked about doctors a bit and Keli shared some pretty strong opinions, all based on personal experience or her clients' experiences. We received some emails from people who were upset about this, and called it biased and unbalanced. Of course it's biased, it's my show, and I am only one person. So I want to remind you that the entire basis of our show is to expose ourselves to all kinds of life experiences, so that we can consider what things may or may not have value in relation to our own, expand our awareness, and be more inclusive. As a host, it's my choice to value and honor all of our guest's beliefs, experiences and opinions, whether or not I understand or agree. I always follow my curiosity, and we aim to create a space for authentic self-expression. I neither ask you to or expect you to enjoy every episode or agree with every guest, or me. All I ask is to keep an open mind, and if you would like to share feedback with us, be kind in your messages. Thank you!

About Anita Moorjani:

Anita Moorjani, an international speaker and the author of New York Times Best Seller Dying To Be Me and her latest book, What If This Is Heaven?, is a woman with a remarkable story.

After a 4-year battle with cancer, Anita fell into a coma and was given days to live. As her doctors gathered to revive her, she journeyed into a near death experience (NDE) where she was surrounded by unconditional love and deep wisdom. In this place, she was given a powerful truth: HEAVEN IS NOT A DESTINATION; IT IS A STATE OF BEING.

During her NDE, Anita was also given the choice to return to her physical form or to continue into this new realm. She chose the former. And when she regained consciousness, her cancer began to heal. To the amazement of her doctors, she was free of countless tumors and cancer indicators within weeks.

Anita’s NDE has captured the hearts and attention of millions across the globe. She has been a featured guest on The Dr. Oz Show, Fox News, The Today Show, CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, the National Geographic Channel, as well as The Pearl Report in Hong Kong, Headstart with Karen Davila in the Philippines, and many others.

In this episode, Anita shares:

1. What Anita means by "health awareness" instead of "illness scare"
2. How to stay connected to Source when "reality" sets in
3. Self-love
4. Why she returned from her Near Death Experience (NDE)

Jul 31, 2017

This is a different type of episode - I am the one being interviewed today!
I get a lot of messages from listeners who are trying to find their purpose and do meaningful, satisfying work in the world that has an impact in a way they're passionate about and can be proud of.

You tell me you're reaching out to me because you see me doing those things and want to know how, what were the steps, how did I get started, how did I get here.

So today I invited a dear friend, fellow Wild Dreamer, entrepreneur, super soulful mama and former guest, Jadah Sellner to interview me for this episode so I can answer those questions for you - along with any other juicy questions Jadah could come up with. She did not disappoint. Enjoy, and be sure to share with anyone you know who is also looking to birth their dreams or their sacred work in the world and have it grow.

About Jadah Sellner:

Jadah Sellner is an author, international keynote speaker, poet, and the creator of the Mentorship Lab™ & Build Your Challenge™ at jadahsellner.com.

Since 2009, Jadah has started 3 businesses (including one brick and mortar) and now helps creative CEO’s, visionary entrepreneurs, and social change companies build communities with love, so that you can connect to your bigger vision, reach more people, support your family, and grow your income while NOT adding more work for you.

(You may also know her from her work as co-founder and co-author of Simple Green Smoothies, which has been featured on The Doctors TV show, Oprah's O Magazine, Target and the Wall Street Journal.)

When Jadah’s not helping world changers build their tribes with the Love Over Metrics™ movement, you can catch her reading Shel Silverstein poems at the dinner table. She lives in the San Francisco bay area with her husband, daughter, and their little “chiweenie” dog, Clementine.

In this episode, Elizabeth shares:

1. How you need faith the most when the rubber hits the road
2. Lessons on giving yourself permission
3. Surrendering as a practice while building a business
4. The nitty gritty details in taking an idea from seed to full blown launch into the world

I know I say this a lot, but I LOVED doing this interview. Keli Garza, founder of Steamy Chick is brilliant, hilarious and passionate. This conversation centers around vaginal health, specifically the health benefits, practice and history of vaginal steaming. I was so SO impressed with Keli's deep knowledge, research, and experience on a topic I knew very little about going into the discussion. I'd love to tell you hearing the origin story of how she got into this work was my favorite part, but I had like seven favorite parts - you're just going to have to listen and decide for yourself what's most illuminating in this episode. Enjoy!

About Keli Garza:

Keli Garza holds a Masters degree in International Development graduating cum laude. A social science researcher by academic training, Keli has spent the past several years doing women's health research and has founded a new field of discipline called peristeam hydrotherapy. Having recorded over six hundred peri-steam case studies, Keli holds the only known research database of its kind. Keli has worked to develop treatment protocols which are now becoming the industry standard. Her approach is unique in that she tailors treatment based on different menstrual patterns and that she works with an Oriental Medicine Doctor who prescribes specific herbs in the formulas. At Steamy Chick Keli oversees all operations and instructs online e-courses.

In this episode, Keli shares:

1. How the moon is ours
2. What cramping is - contracting, which means something is stuck
3. What a "perfect period" is

I loved having this conversation so much and I think you're all really going to dig it, too. Today's guest Srini Rao, author and host of the Unmistakable Creative podcast is someone who not only has personal chops and experience when it comes to developing creative processes and creating habits for effectiveness and productivity - but he's a real student of the two as well. Between his own studies and interviewing over 700 people himself (#podcastgoals), he provides a TON of interesting and useful perspective in this episode.

From cultural expectations and differences, to relating his passion and dedication to surfing to creativity, and finding creative flow in spite of having ADD and bouts with depression, we went deep in this conversation. Enjoy and be sure to let me know what you think!

Somewhere along the way his compass led him in the direction of an economics degree from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA from Pepperdine University. Extracting unmistakable stories out of people is his superpower. And in his spare time he's usually chasing waves.

In this episode, Srini shares:

1. Finding flow between boredom and anxiety
2. How to work with a medium that's constantly changing
3. Habits: how to increase activation energy towards the habits you want to cultivate and decrease it from the habits you want to avoid

You feel safe, seen, heard, and you know that she's got experience and so much care to back up everything she's sharing. We started the conversation around femininity, sensuality, and flow, then ventured into life transitions. Julie runs a coaching certification school and has been in the industry for 17 years. She had a lot to say about the evolution of life coaching, we discussed some of our pet peeves in the current industry, and I got her opinion on when people are ready to either become a life coach, or hire a life coach. As a former therapist, it was also illuminating to hear Julie's perspective on when it's appropriate to hire a coach or hire a therapist. This is a very rich conversation, with tons of useful insight, I can't wait to hear what you think!

May 29, 2017

Today's interview might be one of the most important (and challenging) topics we've ever covered on the show. It's something every woman deals with in one way or another - healing the mother wound. Our guest Bethany Webster indulged all of my deepest questions and curiosities around what it means to become the mother you've always wanted and how to do that. We discussed how this kind of healing isn't about bashing our own mothers or the maternal figures in our lives, but the personal, collective and spiritual healing every woman faces in her lifetime. We also got into guilt, grief, anger and family systems. We talked about the mother wound as an initiation and pain as a doorway to birthing oneself. Listen closely to this one, maybe more than once and definitely join us in the Facebook group to continue the conversation if it's relevant to you. Big love!

About Bethany Webster:

Bethany Webster is a writer, transformational coach, international speaker and what you could call a midwife of the heart. Her work is focused on helping women heal the "mother wound" so that they can step into their full feminine power and potential. She offers an online course, teaches workshops and a coaching program for women leaders who want to accelerate their impact and leadership. Bethany is the author of the forthcoming book "Healing the Mother Wound: Move Beyond What Your Mother Never Gave You and Become the Woman You're Meant to be." Her website is womboflight.com

In this episode, Bethany shares:

1. Guilt as a side effect of control
2. Healthy outrage and treating the grief that accompanies it as a holy emotion
3. What exactly the mother wound is and the three aspects of it, personal, collective, and spiritual
4. How women have harmed each other

May 15, 2017

I lloovvveeed this conversation and have a feeling you will too. Today's guest Abiola Abrams, is absolutely magnetic and generous. We ran the gamut in this one on all kinds of sensitive topics from "color blindness" and political correctness to spirituality, rage, activism, and staying informed during these interesting times we live in. We talked about keeping an open mind, abundance, African goddesses, culture, and more. Her breadth of knowledge and experiences was super valuable and she offered both perspectives we've explored before on the show and some that we haven't. This is a GREAT one to share with friends to help open up conversations that are not easy to have, but unavoidable anyway. Enjoy!

Today on the show my dear friend Kate Northrup returns to have a super deep and interesting conversation about doing less, the BEST WAY for women to create some predictability in their lives in a fairly hectic world, allowing the Universe to help you with your to do list (this is more practical than it sounds!), and something we can't seem to get away from lately on the show - navigating transitions! Kate described that in between space as "the fertile void." How much better does that feel than, "I don't know what the hell I'm supposed to do yet!"? One of my favorite things about Kate that we really have in common is the way she blends the woo woo with real mother-freaking life. This is one is packed with super useful insights, enjoy!

About Kate Northrup:

As an entrepreneur, bestselling author, mother, and activist, Kate Northrup supports ambitious, motivated and successful women to light up the world without burning themselves out in the process. Committed to empowering women entrepreneurs to create their most successful businesses while navigating motherhood, Kate is the founder and CEO of Origin Collective, a monthly membership site where women all over the world gather to achieve more while doing less. Her first book, Money: A Love Story, has been published in 5 languages. Kate’s work has been featured by The Today Show, Yahoo! In this episode, Kate shares:

1.Connecting with the menstrual and moon cycles and syncing them with real life

4. How doing less helps increase productivity
5. What is for you cannot pass by you

I get SO MANY requests from people to pick my brain about business that I decided to start answering them on the podcast sporadically. In this episode I talked about dealing with the fear and anxiety of putting yourself out there, how to take action and not get paralyzed so you can start building momentum, and what to do about earning income until your business takes off. I see a lot of people shooting themselves in the foot financially as they try to make businesses work and that's one of the primary reasons businesses don't work. Money stress is a pervasive energy. If either of these topics apply to you, enjoy!

Show Notes:

Here's the specific questions answered in this episode as they were presented to me:

#1. As I write this I feel anxiety running through my body as I have been playing with the idea of putting myself out there. My question is, did you feel fear as you started putting yourself out there and creating different opportunities? If so, how did you work through those fears? I feel like I have so much to share and create but I am paralyzed by doing so. It feels way too vulnerable for me sometimes.

#1a. Excellent question! And clearly so many of us can relate. I launched my first program last month (beta test). The day I started printing I was exhilarated. Scared. But excited. The next day the vulnerability hangover was so intense I fought with people I love, I abandoned all self care, and I doubted myself huge. I caught myself and turned it around quickly, thankfully. But damn it was so intense!

#2. The start up phase: how do you make sure the need to earn an income doesn't kill your creative freedom? I'm trying to move out of debts and into business for ages already, but all those bridge jobs tend to earn me just enough to live and take up all my time.. what's the way out and up?

#2a. This is my dilemma too, it's like I'm stuck in a loop of bridge jobs that take up all of my time, deplete me and leave me with no energy to do my business ?

Today's guest, Rebekah Borucki is someone I feel like I've "grown up with" over the last few years as we both used to primarily do "fitness stuff" and have branched into deeper and different things now. We took this conversation to places we don't usually go on the podcast, activism, privilege, miscarriages, death, and birth. We also covered some God ground, talked about prayer as a meditation practice and parenting (she's a mom of five and a doula!). I loved this chat and hope you do too. Enjoy!

This is a fierce conversation if I've ever had one. I was recently on our guest, Emelia Symington Fedy's radio show and we essentially started our conversation there, then got into all the things we couldn't cover on her show in this chat because lucky for me, I don't have to answer to a producer! We talked about integrity in art, creation and self help, spiritual capitalism and commodification, "money stuff", and I'll tell you right now, you're going to love her answer to our signature, "What do you love about being a woman?" question! Enjoy and let me know what you think!

I love talking to people who are navigating big transitions because it's time when trust and identity are really called into question. How someone navigates that space says a lot about them and of course, it's a ripe time for life lessons. At the time of our interview today's guest Emily Greener, co-founder and former executive director of I AM THAT GIRL was still pretty fresh into a big transition and she was awesome enough to share some of the experience with us along with her valuable perspectives. In this interview we talk about not depriving yourself of the full range of human emotions, creating openings for yourself in life, the relationship between anger, the ego and blame, what happens when your identity is wrapped up in a job title and more. And we also went on a cool tangent about Christianity, Judaism and "the real" Jesus Christ. Enjoy!

About Emily Greener:

Emily Greener has an unparalleled ability to give companies the heart beat and soul that allows them to authentically connect with consumers, make an impact, and enrich the human experience from the inside out. She builds and executes strategies that help create systemic improvement for company culture and diversity, internal and external communications, cause integration and marketing, content and campaigns, and business development and partnerships. Her willingness to lead with vulnerability and her genuine passion for people makes her a trusted influence in the business of changing the world and shifting culture. She specializes in generation Y and Z, empowerment, and girls and women.

I met today's guests at a conference in January and practically tackled them during the next break to get them on the podcast to talk about a topic that is fascinating, necessary, and not something we've discussed in depth on the show before - disrupting the education system. Gordy Bal and Philip Moore (who was mentored by Buckminster Fuller!!!), are collaborating to create Xploration Centre, a "wild school" that promotes loved based education. Now before you go rolling your eyes, listen to the show. They share how the current education is setting up children to be ill equipped to exist and thrive in a world where technology is developing at a more rapid pace than any other time in history. Phil schools us on "neoteny" and what that has to do with quality education and development for humans, to be unique, to help them learn and live in questions rather than trying to adhere to curriculums, exactness, and systems that are very exclusive to learning and personality styles. We talk about synergy, what it means to be a global citizen, and more. I don't know that I've ever been more excited about an interview. Enjoy!

About Gordy Bal and Phillip Moore:
Gordy Bal - Alchemist and Visionary
The Xploration Centre is what Gordy has been dreaming of for his own three sons. An education model that connects our children back to nature and prepares them for Xponential times. An education model that embraces entrepreneurial learning and sustainability in a natural environment. A space where young minds can discover their purpose and passion through Xploration and share their superpowers with the world to make it a better place.

Phillip Moore - Synergistic Guide and Educational Innovator
Mentored by Buckminster Fuller, Phillip began teaching at Upland Hills Farm School in 1971. He was asked to become the director of the school in February of 1972 and served until June of 2013. During this 40-year period, Phil developed teams on the staff and board level to grow a learning community.

In this episode, Gordy and Phil share:

1. What it means to be a global citizen
2. What is "eros" and what does it have to do with modern education?
3. Culturing our youth through synergy and consciousness
4. Getting away from trying to "control" children through behavior modification and recognizing all we can stand to learn from them as adults

Today's conversation is a deep one about sex with Layla Martin (pun intended...I couldn't help myself!). Called "The Headmistress of Pleasure" by Women's Health Magazine, Layla spent years studying sexuality at both Stanford University & in the jungles of Asia with Tantric masters. We explored all the things in this chat. From sensuality, play and energetic fullness, to different types of orgasms, better understanding female anatomy, and sexual shame. Related to shame and all the emotions and triggers surrounding sex, we also discussed how our bodies are designed to heal and how sex is not just a pleasure path but a healing one as well. Listen to this one a few times, especially if any of these threads strike a cord for you and of course, let me know what you think!

About Layla Martin:

Layla Martin is the golden standard of holistic sexuality of the millennial generation -- teaching highly intelligent, successful and conscious audiences how to have epic sex and totally incredible relationships through a new approach to the body and intimacy. Her mission is healing and evolving people's conceptions of what sex and relationships truly are. Layla studied human sexuality at Stanford University and then moved to Asia where she worked extensively with Tantric masters for over seven years, mostly in the jungle. All in all, she’s done over ten thousand hours of training in Tantra and sacred sexuality. Her approach is to take this deep wisdom, which is often overlooked because it is cloaked in overly hippy or new-agey language and design and make it highly accessible to young, modern, amazing people by making it entertaining and super fun. Layla brings her knowledge of ancient teachings, and seven years of extensive work with Tantric masters in Asia combined with her foundational education studying human sexuality at Stanford University to hundreds of thousands of people who are suffering from an approach to sex and relationships that has been shaped by hundreds and even thousands of years of old religious and social taboos around these topics that are no longer fully relevant to modern society and yet still play a large role in influencing how we approach love, sex and relationships.

In this episode, Layla shares:

1. Sex education for adults
2. Why cervical orgasms are Layla's favorite
3. How to navigate crying during sex from both partners' perspectives
4. Sexual shame for men and women
