This episode is a beautiful reminder that the things we assume are fixed in our 50s and 60s may not be so, and there's always room for growth, healing, and transformation, no matter how old we are. Joining the conversation today is Dr. Cynthia McGrath, an author, WomanSpeak Coach, Sacred Embodiment Specialist, and NLP practitioner. She's 71 years young and still on her healing journey, inspiring women aged 50 and above to continue learning, growing, and expressing themselves on their terms.

Throughout our chat, Cynthia shares stories from her experience as a nurse practitioner, discussing patients who have remained vibrant and active well into their 80s. We also touch upon Cynthia's passion for Enneagram for increasing self-awareness and compassion for others and how it can help us appreciate the uniqueness of everyone around us. Plus, Cynthia highlights how living in embodiment has impacted her role as a wife, grandmother, and music lover.

In episode 449 of the Embodied Podcast we discuss:

  • Cynthia’s experience with transformational NLP and Sacred Embodiment to cultivate a deeper relationship with her body and emotions

  • Being a “mystical crone”

  • How Cynthia approaches menopause, perimenopause, and aging

  • The origin of the Enneagram symbol and its ancient mysticism

  • The ways Enneagram can help us understand and appreciate individual differences

  • The role of embodiment in being a mom, wife, and grandmother

  • Cynthia’s goals and dreams at the age of 71

It’s completely understandable to feel overwhelmed when witnessing the atrocities currently unfolding in our world. It's also easy to give in to external pressures, like those on social media, and conform to expectations that encourage us to mistreat each other. In this episode, Elizabeth dives into performative activism, platform policing, and embracing the sacred power of curiosity.

She also discusses how to respond to and approach these issues with humility and an open mind, much like that of a loving parent, so you can access genuine curiosity in line with your soul’s wisdom. Imagine how different the world would be if our capacity for reverence was larger than our capacity for despising things? What if we could approach those who hold different perspectives than us with an effort to understand instead of jumping to anger and judgment?

In episode 448 of the Embodied Podcast we discuss:

(3:52) Social media's role in activism during crises and our recommended voices to follow

(6:42) Advice for attending to your personal energy and soul's wisdom when navigating social and political issues

(9:01) The importance of curiosity to empathize with others' perspectives

(12:31) Embracing the sacred power of curiosity by asking questions and doing self-reflections

(18:23) Using curiosity, humility, and reverence as tools to bridge gaps in understanding

Our healing conversations have been consistently beautiful, challenge our conditioned perspectives on healing, and invite us to embrace diverse and individualized paths. Today's chat with Kate Orlofsky is no different. Kate is an ecologist, dog musher, and wilderness enthusiast living in rural Alaska. Kate has participated in almost everything we offer at the School of Sacred Embodiment over the last few years and she shares how her anxiety has decreased, she’s been able to release her tendency to control, and now uses her voice to openly express her desires.

We discuss the evolving nature of healing and how Kate is a big believer in the power of movement for processing emotions. She also explains why living in embodiment and having a greater awareness and respect for her body has significantly enhanced how she shows up in the world.

In episode 447 of the Embodied Podcast we discuss:

(4:56) Kate's Holy Consistency and what it means to her

(9:18) Why the layers of healing take time and how to face them with grace

True embodiment is that feeling when you're walking down the street or sitting on a plane and you're completely in touch with your whole entire self. Today, we dig into healing through embodiment with Erica Wiederlight, an embodiment specialist in training with The School of Sacred Embodiment and a confidence coach for self-love, sexual empowerment, pleasure, and dating.

In this beautiful chat, we discuss the depth of embodiment and the importance of being in tune with your body at all times – not just during yoga or pole dancing classes. Erica also shares her growth journey and how she realized full embodiment releases any and all performative aspects of movement work. We touch on Erica's gift for teaching, the cyclical nature of holding, and how her neurodivergence impacted her relationship to self-discovery, worthiness, and inclusive coaching.

Our world is experiencing atrocious and unthinkable trauma, and overconsuming and sharing on social media can be incredibly overwhelming and unhelpful. Shifting towards collectivism, trust, cooperation, and humility takes time and patience, as does any healing process. Throughout the episode, you’ll hear offerings for how to maintain as much emotional balance as possible during chaotic times, honor your capacity for contributions, and prioritize yourself as a means to reduce collective energetic upheaval.

Today I’m exploring the working definition of Spiritual Futurism specific to The School of Sacred Embodiment. At its core, this interpretation of Spiritual Futurism calls on us to re-evaluate our connection with the divine, freeing ourselves from outdated patriarchal and colonized influences and returning to our ancestral and indigenous roots. With this approach, we can revitalize ancient traditions to fit our modern needs.

In this episode, I share how incorporating this concept into mystical leadership cultivates an open space to guide others with empathy and understanding rather than imposing rigid expectations. The result? Stronger, more compassionate communities that foster growth, an openness to reflection, and a willingness to refine.

In episode 442 of the Embodied Podcast we discuss:

(1:56) How contemporary spiritual leaders differ from ancient mystics and guides

(7:53) Why energetic dependency influences communities and containers

(12:46) The beauty of connecting in intimate and mixed community spaces

(20:55) The School of Sacred Embodiment’s working definition of Spiritual Futurism

(22:54) How Spiritual Futurism can bring mystics, healers and priestesses into the mainstream

(25:51) The harm caused by leaders who interpret ancient materials without considering our modern world

(30:00) Mystical leadership compared to traditional church structures and other forms of spirituality and coaching

(35:38) The challenge of stepping into collectivism in a world full of individualism

In this episode, we’re taking a deeper look at Body Love + Reverence.

Relating to our bodies is something that's interwoven into every single day and moment of our lives. This is the main reason I’m so passionate about bringing love and reverence to the experience of having a body for women.

In episode 439 of the Embodied Podcast we discuss:

(2:37) How major industries have made women feel unhappy and dissatisfied with their bodies

(6:48) Why the pillars of Body Love + Reverence are for anyone, regardless of the relationship with your body

(8:33) Body Love + Reverence Pillar #1: Sensual healing is about being able to tune into your self and feel and know the truth in your body

(9:29) Body Love + Reverence Pillar #2: Beauty as medicine is deciding what our own perception of beauty is, and developing the “eye of the beholder” in all areas of life

(11:27) Body Love + Reverence Pillar #3: Working with your intuition allows for presence, which enables us to fully tap into the human and soul self

(14:49) Body Love + Reverence Pillar #4: Energetic awareness shows you how powerful you really are, and taps into potential you didn’t know you had. This releases unprecedented reverence for the body

(15:26) Body Love + Reverence Pillar #5: Sacredness of every body means every single person’s body is sacred. What would you do if you knew how sacred you really are?

(17:02) Benefits of body love + reverence

Welcome to the final part of my “40 Lessons in 40 Years” series. Today, we wrap up with lessons  31 to 40, exploring topics like patience, healing, and body love and reverence.

I believe in being with life wherever it is at this moment, but also chipping away at things to get to the other side. Many of these lessons reflect how we can honor each of our individual paths while also using discernment and compassion to help us make choices toward continual (and collective) growth.

I believe there are infinite amounts of resources existing within us, waiting to be remembered and reactivated. If any of the lessons in the series helped you at all, I’d love to hear from you!

In episode 439 of the Embodied Podcast we discuss:

(1:18) Lesson #31: One of the best uses of prayer - to pray for people to receive exactly what they need, not what we think they need.

(4:39) Lesson #32: We have to face evil and negative energy and transmute them, or they will persist.

(9:09) Lesson #33: Energy vampires have a way of draining your lifeforce, getting their fix, and not changing.

(14:49) Lesson #34: There are some things we may never fully heal or get over, but aim to get to a place where it just doesn't affect you the way it used to anymore.

(17:24) Lesson #35: Invite in reverence, which is many steps beyond respect, as a beautiful way of experiencing more grace in your life.

(17:58) Lesson #36: Stored in our souls is more wisdom, knowledge and experience the most of us will ever tap into and fully remember, in any one single lifetime,

(18:58) Lesson #37: We all need people in our lives that we can be our most unevolved selves wuth. Get you some of those people, and if you already have them, cherish them dearly!

(20:16) Lesson #38: On being on the aromantic spectrum. Until I was 38 years old, I thought I wanted a partner. It turns out, I really don't.

(23:57) Lesson #39: Slowing down is magical, and learning the difference between impulse and intuition in the body is good for the soul.

(27:06) Lesson #40: Everything you've ever needed has always been inside of you.

As I approach my 40th birthday next week, I’ve been reflecting on the experiences that shape the foundation of my value system and understanding of the world around me. In this episode, I delve into lessons 21 to 30 of my “40 Lessons in 40 Years” series, exploring topics like reciprocity, embodiment, and identity.

When it comes to my relationships, health, career – honestly, everything in my life – I’m committed to trusting my embodied awareness. I’m all about meeting people where they are, but I’ve also realized that I need to be okay with where I am and let my inner-knowing guide the way. I hope this series sparks something in you to think about your innate wisdom and what lessons you’ve picked up along the way. If anything resonates with you (or doesn’t), I’d love to hear from you!

In episode 439 of the Embodied Podcast we discuss:

(1:28) Lesson #21: Reciprocity is great to integrate into your value system to just ensure that you're not constantly burning yourself out and over-giving.

(4:20) Lesson #22: Be discerning about marketing versus information.

(9:22) Lesson #23: Differentiate between healthcare and illness scare (h/t to Anita Moorjani)

(10:25) Lesson #24: Be careful what you identify with and hold on to all your identities with a flexible grip.

(12:42) Lesson #25: Practice less armchair diagnosing and more discernment around what kind of behavior, treatment, and communication works best for you.

(13:50) Lesson #26: We do not need to understand things or how and why they happen in order to heal, grow, and learn from them.

(14:39) Lesson #27: People let attachment to (and weird definitions of) morality interfere with good decision making.

(15:06) Lesson #28: Here on Earth where love is extremely powerful and potent, but we also have free will with our truth, integrity, compassion, and forgiveness, love is just not enough sometimes.

(15:35) Lesson #29: Expressive arts are so important because sometimes we need stories in order to feel and acknowledge what we’re actually going through.

(17:50) Lesson #30: It’s really important to create levels in my work and be clear about who is meant for each offering.

Lessons 11 through 20 in my “40 Lessons in 40 Years” series all stem from one overarching theme: lead with curiosity. When I get curious with myself and the world around me, there’s so much potential for compassion, healing, and discovery.

In this episode, I reflect on some of my deepest liberatory practices, including not taking things personally, prioritizing people who can respect me, and honoring the orientation of my soul. All of the lessons mentioned in this series are extracted from lived experiences, either my own or those around me, so I’d love to hear what resonates with you. See you back here next week for lessons number 21 to 30!

In episode 438 of the Embodied Podcast we discuss:

(0:47) Lesson #11: Allowing other people to have their own experiences is one of the most liberating practices that any of us can ever have.

(4:32) Lesson #12: Don’t take things personally, or make things about you.

(7:03) Lesson #13: Chronological age doesn't guarantee or determine as much as we think it should, would or does towards people's maturity.

(8:33) Lesson #14: None of us should waste our time with people who don't respect us.

(10:32) Lesson #15: Give the most time to people who see, honor, cherish, revere, and respect you for who you really are.

(15:27) Lesson #16: If any part of your identity is part of a norm, it's very important for you to learn about the lived experiences, and gain some insight and competence about the experiences of those who aren't part of the same norm that you are.

(18:22) Lesson #17: Money is important for survival, but it ain't all that.

(20:27) Lesson #18: Younger souls are here to manifest and older souls are here to serve God.

(24:10) Lesson #19: Accepting who and where you are, and accepting responsibility for your life, is also a liberatory practice.

(26:32) Lesson #20: Sometimes it's helpful to learn the rules so you can break them.

In this episode, I am joined by the School of Sacred Embodiment’s community manager, and 1/2 of our two person Dream Team, the loving and incredibly tender-hearted Marjolaine Millette. We also discuss the practice of wild dreaming as a way to expand your imagination, recognize, and dismiss the limitations “adulting” puts on us so that you can be more loving and have more access to your deepest, most honest truths.

In episode 433 of the Embodied Podcast we discuss:

I believe that spirituality should be one of the greatest wellsprings of pleasure and joy in our lives. In this episode, I’m sharing four things most people don’t understand about TRUE Purpose and Power and how our bodies know when there’s truth to something worth paying attention to.

I’m also sharing why I think it’s harmful for anyone to allow themselves to hate their body and how cultivating trust, respect, honor, and appreciation for our bodies creates natural energetic boundaries we could all benefit from. Where there’s systems and programming, it’s important to remember that we and our bodies are still sacred. I hope this episode will give you a few reasons to be kinder, gentler, and more loving toward your body as just one expression of your TRUE power and spark your curiosity for discovering more expressions, too.

In episode 432 of the Embodied Podcast we discuss:

(1:27) The Wise and Wild Self meditation, a free resource for tuning into TRUE Purpose and Power

(4:16) How paddleboarding and being in nature taps into the body, purpose, and aliveness

(10:53) The importance of specificity and how words have their own power and magnetism

(14:13) The first teaching - Logical sense is not superior to intuitive sense

(14:45) The second teaching - We are all multifaceted beings with unique and built in gifts and genius

(15:26) The third teaching - Heal what you need to heal, so you can treat and experience every aspect of yourself as sacred

(17:05) The fourth teaching  - Your body is a pathway, a portal and a temple, no matter the shape, size, "health" or ability

(22:55) Our body’s energetic boundaries of trust, respect, honor, and appreciation

(25:23) A chance to be mentored using the Wild Soul Liberation framework

In this episode, I’m sharing some updates and reflections from my social media logout and musing about what could be possible if more people took the time to carefully consider the impacts of so much social media. I’m also exploring the importance of experimenting and testing things out to find the best answers to life’s biggest questions. In a world where so many people are constantly telling us what and how to think, practicing thinking for ourselves and drawing informed conclusions is a really important practice.

In episode 431 of the Embodied Podcast we discuss:

(4:24) How testing things out is the only way to find a conclusion that works for you

(9:28) The belief that social media reflects someone’s level of success

(14:48) Excerpts from the School of Sacred Embodiment’s new ‘about’ page

(20:34) Why sacred embodiment and wild soul liberation are crucial to purpose and power

(23:21) Helping people find a route into spirituality that works for them

(30:40) The relationship between social media and people who want to help themselves

(34:31) The potential outcome of a mass social media exodus

In this episode, I elaborate on ways that context and soulful prosperity overlap with each other. We need context for healthy, productive, and joyful interactions, and so much of that relates back to values. I find that when I open myself up to understand the complexity of situations, it’s easier to be who I’m meant to be. When we have context, we have peace, focus, and direction in our lives, and what’s more prosperous than that?

In episode 430 of the Embodied Podcast we discuss:

(2:23) Why I’m really big on context

(6:04) Engaging with context for the sake of competence and connection

(11:13) What the Soulful Prosperity Framework is all about

(14:19) One of the biggest reasons why reasons people struggle to trust themselves and their intuition

(18:34) Why it’s so important to look at prosperity in different contexts

Join me as I look at these qualities in different contexts and share ways to navigate life with more peace, power, and ease as a mystic.

In episode 429 of the Embodied Podcast we discuss:

In this episode, I’m sharing certain ways that I commune with my guides and interpret the messages I get from them. I also expand on some beliefs and practices that help me deal with the paradoxical nature of life and make sense of the world we live in.

Weeze Doran joins me on this episode to jam about our upcoming liberation program for men and the vision we have for it. We take a nuanced look at the patriarchy and how it harms everyone who lives within this social structure – cis hetero men included.

Weeze and I don’t subscribe to the white American feminist ideology and lay out the reasons why in this conversation. We’re aiming to shift out of this ‘toxic masculinity’ language and instead hold space for men to explore the dimensions of masculinity and the depths of their internalized misogyny.

Join us as we riff on the inspiration behind this program and what you can expect from the curriculum. We also have an info session on June 20th if you want to learn more about the content, who we are, or ask any questions. You can sign up for that here

In episode 427 of the Embodied Podcast we discuss:

(3:49) A passage from a bell hooks book called The Will to Change that deeply resonates with us.

(8:35) The biggest barriers for men experiencing love, intimacy, and connection

(13:33) Why so many men struggle with embodiment

(18:56) Why we don’t consider ourselves feminists

(36:59) What happens when men are taught to be providers and protectors above all else

(40:04) Our take on The Way of the Superior Man by David Deida

(48:41) What liberation means in the context of romantic relationships

(59:57) An overview of the Living Legends program format and curriculum

Something I’ve been diligent about as I approach 40 is taking stock of where I give people way too much access to me. One of the main places I see it happening is on social media. I’ve also been reflecting on how distractions have impacted my life, especially through the lens of my neurodivergence.

These two inquiries, coupled with conversations I’m having with people in my community and books I’ve been reading about ADHD, attention, and focus have led me to an experiment: I’m logging out of Instagram and Facebook for the summer, with big curiosity around whether this should eventually be a forever thing. Join me on this episode as I expand on what factored into this decision and what I’ve been noticing as I start to taper off from those platforms.

In episode 426 of the Embodied Podcast we discuss:

(0:41) Announcements and updates about the show

(3:20) My journey with being diagnosed with ADHD as an adult

(7:30) The details of my social media experiment

(10:34) Why I’m a huge advocate for letting yourself feel the full range of human emotions

(16:00) The consequences of endless and unmitigated commentary on social media

(20:14) Noticing how unintentional multitasking affects my energy and focus

(25:22) My plans for the free Wild Soul Community on Mighty Networks

(28:17) Reflecting on how I allow people to consume the content that I put out there

(32:33) What I’ve been noticing about my life as I cut back the content overload

While we can all always aim to be kind, loving, compassionate, really conscious and courageous communicators, sometimes our less evolved parts do come out. I recently made some relationship decisions, and they brought up a lot for me around emotional maturity and intelligence. In this episode, I’m unpacking the nuanced considerations and analysis that I’ve been going through around engaging with people and building intimacy and connection.

As always, I share my stories not because I believe my experience is universal and I handle everything perfectly, but because I know some of you will relate to parts, if not all, of these experiences and I hope that they are useful in your own reflection and development, too.

In episode 425 of the Embodied Podcast we discuss:

(1:04) What the Wild Soul Sacred Body Membership is and who it’s for

(4:23) A decision I made last week that used up all of my bandwidth for emotional intelligence and maturity

(6:17) Learning the lesson of being careful about who you confide in

(8:30) My thoughts on unsolicited advice

(12:29) The distinction between being evolved and mature

(14:42) Feeling cathartic after speaking honestly with certain people in my life

(18:22) Why I don’t necessarily agree with the concept of ‘if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all’
