I get SO MANY requests from people to pick my brain about business that I decided to start answering them on the podcast sporadically. In this episode I talked about dealing with the fear and anxiety of putting yourself out there, how to take action and not get paralyzed so you can start building momentum, and what to do about earning income until your business takes off. I see a lot of people shooting themselves in the foot financially as they try to make businesses work and that's one of the primary reasons businesses don't work. Money stress is a pervasive energy. If either of these topics apply to you, enjoy!

Show Notes:

Here's the specific questions answered in this episode as they were presented to me:

#1. As I write this I feel anxiety running through my body as I have been playing with the idea of putting myself out there. My question is, did you feel fear as you started putting yourself out there and creating different opportunities? If so, how did you work through those fears? I feel like I have so much to share and create but I am paralyzed by doing so. It feels way too vulnerable for me sometimes.

#1a. Excellent question! And clearly so many of us can relate. I launched my first program last month (beta test). The day I started printing I was exhilarated. Scared. But excited. The next day the vulnerability hangover was so intense I fought with people I love, I abandoned all self care, and I doubted myself huge. I caught myself and turned it around quickly, thankfully. But damn it was so intense!

#2. The start up phase: how do you make sure the need to earn an income doesn't kill your creative freedom? I'm trying to move out of debts and into business for ages already, but all those bridge jobs tend to earn me just enough to live and take up all my time.. what's the way out and up?

#2a. This is my dilemma too, it's like I'm stuck in a loop of bridge jobs that take up all of my time, deplete me and leave me with no energy to do my business ?

Today's guest, Rebekah Borucki is someone I feel like I've "grown up with" over the last few years as we both used to primarily do "fitness stuff" and have branched into deeper and different things now. We took this conversation to places we don't usually go on the podcast, activism, privilege, miscarriages, death, and birth. We also covered some God ground, talked about prayer as a meditation practice and parenting (she's a mom of five and a doula!). I loved this chat and hope you do too. Enjoy!

About Rebekah Borucki:

Renowned Meditation and Yoga instructor Rebekah Borucki is on a mission. Affectionately called a ‘real-life superhero’ by her peers, “Bex” is known as the practitioner for peace of mind, and in her new book, You Have 4 Minutes to Change Your Life: Simple 4-Minute Meditations for Inspiration, Transformation, and True Bliss, she explores highly effective methods to soothe life’s daily stressors with meditation. As a mom-of-five from New Jersey, who’s never lived in an ashram or been to a meditation retreat in India, Rebekah found her path to peace as a teenager with meditation and overcame her childhood trauma to build a life filled with purpose and success. She has taught meditation as a profound act of self-care that can be executed effortlessly and effectively to hundreds of thousands of individuals. For more information on Bex’s book, visit www.BexLife.com/book.

In this episode, Rebekah shares:

1. Deconstructing various types of privilege: pretty, white, male, and more
2. How children show parents who they are
3. Discipline as a form of love
4. Different ways to "do activism"

This is a fierce conversation if I've ever had one. I was recently on our guest, Emelia Symington Fedy's radio show and we essentially started our conversation there, then got into all the things we couldn't cover on her show in this chat because lucky for me, I don't have to answer to a producer! We talked about integrity in art, creation and self help, spiritual capitalism and commodification, "money stuff", and I'll tell you right now, you're going to love her answer to our signature, "What do you love about being a woman?" question! Enjoy and let me know what you think!

About Emelia Symington Fedy:

Emelia hosts and produces her own 2x daily radio show called Trying to be Good where her and her guest go deep into what matters most to them. 1 interview. 1 hour. All heart and guts.

She’s comfortable live and on the spot, gives great interview and loves being on podcasts. Just ask.

She freelances for online magazines, print and radio. Big resume. Again, ask.

Emelia loves to perform her personal stories live.

She offers personal workshops on “how to be yourself onstage” and “how to be yourself online.” online.

She also does slammin’ reviews if you want a good and honest critique of your product/yoga studio/boyfriend.

Emelia’s is excellent at hosting facilitated conversations at events about contemporary spirituality, neo-feminism and the use of social acupuncture.

Emelia is a speaking gigger. She loves this maybe the most.

And if you need coaching on how to be your brightest, best self at a speaking gig, she can make that happen too; from initial writing to story arc to performance stylings. Give a call.

Check out www.thechoptheatre.com for more of Emelia’s art making.

She also teaches AcroYoga and private yoga sessions, with focus on grief and slow healing.

In this episode, Emelia shares:

1. Contrived vs authentic content
2. How it feels when something is canned and planned versus spontaneous
3. The challenges of being a creative entrepreneur (whether you like it, choose it or not!)
