Everything you’ve ever needed has always been inside of you, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to find.

Much of my work can be deep and confronting. The path toward embodied healing and self-liberation requires work!

But having fun has a place in healing as well.

After working with thousands of women over the past several years, I’ve developed a way of looking at our wild nature that is both fun and informative: The Wild Soul Archetypes.

The Wild Soul Archetypes help us to better understand and access the power that is inside each one of us.

These archetypes are energetic expressions that can be used for healing, self-discovery, growth, and reprogramming old paradigms, habits, and beliefs.

We naturally embody a particular Wild Soul Archetype (or several!) during different seasons of our lives. As we learn to identify and connect with each of them, we grow ever closer to experiencing wholeness and freedom.

The purpose of this episode is to provide a quick primer about the Wild Soul Archetypes before we dig deeper into them over the next several weeks.

I’m excited to help you unearth and reclaim what’s already inside of you. The six Wild Soul Archetypes are...

The Sovereign Queen,

The Warrior Goddess,

The Medicine Woman,

The Sacred Creatress,

The Divine Mother, and

The Erotic Priestess.

These archetypes represent the beautiful multi-dimensionality that exists in all women. Join me in today’s episode to learn which one you are currently embodying and how her wisdom can guide you in your journey toward embodied healing and self-liberation.

About the EMBODIED Podcast with Elizabeth DiAlto

Since 2013 I’ve been developing a body of work that helps women embody self love, healing and wholeness. We do this by focusing on the four levels of consciousness - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

In practical terms this looks like exploring tools and practices to help you  tune into the deep wisdom of the body and the knowing of the heart, which I believe are gateways to our souls. Then we cultivate a new relationship with our minds that allows the mind to serve this wisdom and knowing and soul connection, rather than override it, which is what many of us were taught.

If you’ve been doing self help or spiritual development work for a while, these are the types of foundational things that often people overlook in pursuit of fancier concepts that often aren’t practical or sustainable. Here, we will focus on building these strong foundations so you can honestly and thoroughly embody self love. If you’re feeling it, subscribe to the show, and leave us a review wherever you listen from. You can also keep up with show updates and community discussion on Instagram here.

Does the idea of embodiment seem elusive?

The last two episodes explored the self-liberation and embodied healing frameworks.

But are you stuck wondering what embodied healing actually looks like?

I’m answering that question in today’s episode.

This week, I’m sharing the ways I’ve seen embodied healing manifest within the Embodied Living Center community.

Time and again, I’ve seen embodied healing help people to

  • Reconnect to themselves
  • Reconnect to the Divine or their spirituality
  • Heal long-standing interpersonal issues
  • Tap into their confidence, see their strengths, and live without apology

But you don’t have to take my word for it.

I’m also sharing the words of people like you who’ve experienced healing through the Embodied Living Center.

Everyone’s experience is unique because everyone has their own path.

But what I have seen across the board is people recognizing their multidimensionality - the gifts and talents they have to offer the world - and embracing it to live fuller, happier lives.

Are you searching for a way to live in alignment with who you’re meant to be?

Take a few minutes to listen to what these women have to say, and decide if embodiment is the piece you’ve been missing.

The embodied healing journey doesn’t have to be exhausting or intimidating when we remember to move in cycles, not a straightforward path.

In this week’s episode, I’ll be giving an overview of my embodied healing framework. I prefer frameworks to formulas because everyone’s healing journeys are unique and must allow for flexibility.

I call this framework The Four I’s of Embodied Healing:

  • Intentionality
  • Introspection
  • Integration, and
  • Integrity

The purpose of this framework is to provide clarity for your healing journey. The self-liberation framework that I shared last week provides support and direction for the embodied healing framework.

I’ll briefly explore each of The Four I’s in today’s episode.

For deep dives into both the self-liberation and the embodied living framework, check out the Embodied Living Center.

Designed to be a cave of wonders for embodied healing and self-liberation, the ELC has a plethora of resources to guide you along your path toward healing. It includes access to 160+ class recordings, two mini-courses, and support from a

like mind-heart-souled community of women from around the world

Summer enrollment for the Embodied Living Center is open now through June 22. Reserve your spot today!

After exploring the embodied healing framework, I discuss how honoring nature helps you to get the most from your embodied healing journey.

Our bodies are reflections of nature because we are in nature and of nature.

When we are aware of the energy of Nature’s seasons and cycles, we can be more intentional with our embodied healing.

When we incorporate the energy of the seasons into our healing, we don’t have to expend as much of our own energy. We can let nature assist with some of the heavy lifting.

How does this work? Listen to today’s episode to find out!

I also share the four laws of nature that I have personally observed (mostly from my plants!) that have helped me better understand embodied healing. We can learn a lot from Mother Nature about being gentle with ourselves and growing well.

Today’s episode isn’t intended to be a course (or even a crash course) in embodied healing. Instead, I’ve compiled a library of resources that I have either created or personally used. I hope they will resonate with you as you determine your next step.

If you’re listening to this in real-time, then I highly recommend that your next step be to join us in the #IShineYouShine challenge.

There’s still one week left - including our summer solstice celebration! Join us for free here!

I’m excited to see where this next year takes each of us on our journeys toward embodied healing and self-liberation.

Embodied healing and self-liberation are not just token phrases for feel-good ideology - they are the pathways that can help us create a better world.

In today’s episode, I break down my interpretation of self-liberation and embodied healing. Next week I’ll get more into how they work together.

I didn’t coin these terms. No one has. And plenty of people use them to mean different things.

I want to be clear about what I mean when I speak of self-liberation and embodied healing because they currently define my work.

In the most basic sense,

Embodied healing is healing that goes beyond mental processing alone. It integrates the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of our individual and collective consciousness.

Self-liberation is about getting free from things that keep us from being our whole selves.

But it doesn’t stop there. The miraculous thing about individual embodied healing work is that it naturally leads to collective healing. Likewise, self-liberation work leads to collective liberation.

After the year+ we’ve experienced as a global community, we are overdue for big shifts in collective healing and liberation.

But healing isn’t a one-and-done event. It’s also not a straight uphill climb.

In this episode, I explain

  • How healing happens in layers over time
  • Why healing and recovery go hand-in-hand
  • How the common myth of “brokenness” may be holding you back
  • What wholeness looks like in the context of self-liberation and embodiment.

I also discuss my self-liberation framework. (If you’ve been around for a while, you’re probably already familiar with it - or may know it as one of its former names, as I’ve been developing the framework for seven years now.)

I believe healing frameworks should work more like healing maps. In my framework, the eight tenets you work with as they resonate with you are

  • Surrender
  • Release
  • Trust
  • Receptivity
  • Wild Dreaming
  • Desire
  • Love, and
  • Truth.

Dive into today’s episode for a brief overview of how the tenets of self-liberation anchor your work in embodied healing.

And to jumpstart (or continue!) your self-liberation work, join me on June 11th for the #IShineYouShine challenge!

This is a free 11-day embodiment challenge. I’m going to help you “Get Your Shine Back” through

What does it mean to reclaim true love and light?

Do you cringe a little when you hear that phrase - love and light? Are you wondering how it pertains to embodied healing?

In today’s episode, we’re talking about this highly charged term and uncovering its true meaning.

Love and light are powerful energies that help us to heal and to heal our world. But there’s no avoiding the way phrases like “love and light” or “choose love over fear” have been abused over the years.

It’s time we reclaimed “love and light.” Not just the term, but the Love and Light that are available to us out in the world.

Darkness has been clouding our lives for over a year. Not just in our local cities and towns, but in our worldwide community. Uncertainty and fear are our daily companions. It’s easy to feel stuck and confused about what our next steps should be.

That’s why we must choose this moment to intentionally recalibrate our personal lives and communities toward more light. Love and light can heal even deep, generational wounds. If our world ever needed a push toward healing, it is now.

For my part, I’ve decided to reboot the #IShineYouShine challenge on Friday, June 11.

The goal is to show you how to release the dark in your own life and provide you with some embodied tools and practices to help. We’ll also provide you with a pop-up community in which to do the work.

Are you ready to invite more love and light into your life and take the next step in embodied healing and self-liberation?

Join me in today’s episode to explore what it means to reclaim love and light.

I’ll also share more details about the #IShineYouShine challenge that you won’t want to miss.

When we let fear hold us back from setting boundaries, we miss out on healthy relationships and real love.

What keeps you from setting clear boundaries with the people in your life?

Are you afraid of judgment? Being thought of as high-maintenance, mean, or controlling?

Or maybe you don’t know HOW to set boundaries in a way that works?

In today’s episode, we’re talking with Terri Cole, licensed psychotherapist and author of Boundary Boss: The Essential Guide to Talk True, Be Seen, and (Finally) Live Free. In her book, Terri teaches her readers how to set boundaries in a way that will help us live healthier, happier lives.

I have to be honest (always!): I rarely finish a book. But when I received my copy of Boundary Boss, I couldn’t put it down. I finished it in three days!

As I was reading, I kept thinking about you, my listeners.

If you’re searching for ways to live an authentic life as both fully human and fully divine, you need to set boundaries.

Boundaries aren’t about being bossy or controlling or selfish. Boundaries are about making clear your preferences, desires, limits, and deal-breakers to live a more honest, embodied life.

Among other things, clearly and consistently communicated boundaries:

  • Are an act of self-love and self-respect

  • Show you to be a trustworthy person

  • Prevent feelings of bitterness and hurt

  • Hold everyone accountable in a relationship

  • Helps you attract the right people into your life

But setting boundaries when you haven’t before can also be scary.

Fortunately, boundary-setting isn’t all-or-nothing. It comes down to doing the next right thing, one baby step at a time. In Boundary Boss, Terri walks us through those baby steps in a way that is accessible and totally doable.

Join us in today’s episode to hear more about how feeling empowered and respected really is possible.

Listen to episode 348 now!

In episode 348 of the Embodied Podcast we discuss:

  • [9:15] How boundaries build trust and keep you from second-guessing yourself and others
  • [11:33] How communicating your boundaries is a generous act and does not make you “high-maintenance”
  • [19:36] How enforcing boundaries helps you attract the right people and repel the wrong ones
  • [22:20] The power of direct communication to strengthen relationships
  • [28:05] The different forms of communication and why we use them
  • [34:07] How we can determine what our limits are to be able to start communicating them
  • [39:34] What the different types of boundary pushers are and how to deal with them
  • [44:44] What a “VIP Section” is and how to be discerning about who we allow in it

I believe anger is one of the holiest, most transformational emotions people don't want to face. It's full of useful information. It's fertilizer for healing and it can make us sick when we don't face it.

Dealing with anger in healthy ways is about using it to catalyze change, healing, and/or transformation.

In this episode, I dig into how and why anger is holy and sacred. I spend some time destigmatizing anger and looking at why we think anger is bad and how it doesn't have to be. I name some of the unhealthy ways we deal with anger for the purpose of contrast and ownership. I get into some healthy ways we can work with anger, and talk about how archetypes can help us work with anger.

I also go over the information available to us by working with our anger and how it can liberate us when we learn how to deal with anger in healthy ways.

In this episode of The EMBODIED Podcast we discuss:

[2:50] What I’ll be exploring in this episode

[5:02] The beauty in allowing yourself to feel anger

[8:41] Why so many people think anger is “bad” or a negative thing

[10:38] Unhealthy ways that people deal with anger

[19:41] How you can deal with anger in healthy ways

[30:43] How to transmute your anger

[37:53] What I like to do to deal with anger

In this episode, I dive into what Embodied Living is and I share about the four disconnections wreaking havoc on our world right now.

Welcome back to the show!! In this episode, I dive into what Embodied Living is and I share about the four disconnections wreaking havoc on our world right now.

The soul contains gifts, talents, memories, experiences, wisdom, wounds, and scars from many lifetimes.

The invitation of Embodied Living then is about cultivating a life dedicated to integrating the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual - in other words, allowing ourselves to be fully human and fully divine.

The four disconnections wreaking havoc on our world right now are disconnection from Soul, Source, Sufficiency, and Community.

People who are plugged into Soul, Source, Sufficiency, and Community do not need to dominate or oppress people or force anyone into the margins. They don’t need others to be deemed or rendered powerless in order to feel powerful.

In this episode of The EMBODIED Podcast we discuss:

[3:12] Why I am so excited to be back on the podcast

[6:34] What you need to know about embodiment work and what it means to me

[9:11] What the invitation to embodied living is

[10:28] Why I took a break from podcasting

[13:15] A few things that have happened during my break from podcasting

[17:53] The EMBODIED Living Center and other projects I’ve been up to

[24:05] What’s important to me within embodied healing

[26:41] The 4 disconnections wreaking havoc on our world right now

[29:22] Disconnection from your soul

[31:25] Disconnection from the divine source

[35:24] Disconnection from sufficiency

[39:10] Disconnection from community

[42:55] How the work we do helps these 4 disconnections

This is it, ya'll! It's the wrap up episode for the EMBODIED Self Love series.

There were some listener questions about boundaries that I didn't get to last week, I'm answering those in this episode. And aside from that, I want to spend this last episode on self love anchoring in what we've discussed so far and tying it all together.

And I want to leave you with some reminders and a prayer.

There’s no going back after this.

If you’ve listened to the whole series, you’ve been activated towards self love in a direction you can’t slide back from.

You may have better days than others, but there is a higher understanding now, your new standards have been activated, along with your worthiness, acceptance and everything else we discussed here.

You can’t forget what you heard about self respect. It’s in you now.

You’re aware.

You’re willing.

And of course you are capable.

Here is the prayer  I would like to cover you in - I pray that from this day forward self love is a new set and return point for you - a new home frequency, even if it’s a little shaky right now… everything that stands tall and strong requires its foundation to be built, and that’s what we’ve done here. You are love in a body. You are worthy of love - from yourself, from life and from others. And you are already loved more than you know. May you feel this, know this and live this… every single day for the rest of your lifetimes. Amen.

In the eighth episode of the EMBODIED Self Love series we discuss:

[5:42] My prayer for you for this day forward
[6:44] A mantra about self love
[8:55] Why you need to develop a practice around self love
[12:27] How self love assists in trauma healing
[17:18] Claiming your part in the revolution
[18:30] How to deal with a rude family member
[25:08] Why boundaries have to be flexible and agile
[32:21] What the next mini series will be centered around

This is episode 7 in an 8 episode series on Self Love.

This episode is all about boundaries and what it has to do with self love. Specifically, how boundaries are an expression of all the components of my EMBODIED Self Love Framework:

Boundaries are a responsible way of engaging with what you can control in a healthy, useful way.

Boundaries evolve over time, when you first start setting boundaries, they may be more like barries, it’s ok, over time your boundaries will become both rock solid and without you having to be rigid or militant about it.

Above all else boundaries are rooted in kindness, compassion and are meant to give you permission to live a joyful, love-filled life.

Now, I can hype up boundaries all day but we all know, they're challenging. So in today's episode I offer a lot of context and perspective on boundaries.

Here's what I covered:

  • The importance of having boundaries with yourself
  • How boundaries are an opportunity to teach people how to treat us
  • Navigating saying yes when you mean it and no when you mean it (this is especially hard for recovering codependents and people pleasers!)
  • How to deal with boundary violations and enforcing your boundaries with people who don't respect them
  • Energetic boundaries

...and more

In the seventh episode of the EMBODIED Self Love series we discuss:

[6:14] How people are really different right now

[7:23] How setting boundaries evolves over time

[10:01] What happens to us when we don’t set boundaries

[14:10] My experience of starting over from scratch on social media

[16:59] Examples of boundaries you could set up for yourself

[19:39] Having boundaries around certain types of people

[25:15] Saying “no” when you mean no and saying “yes” when you mean yes

[30:40] Why you should pay attention to the word “should”

[35:27] How boundaries isn’t about being rigid or policing people all the time

[37:27] What having boundaries will do for you

[40:25] What energetic boundaries is and why they’re important

Aug 26, 2020

We are getting into the last part of the EMBODIED Self Love Framework in this episode - Self Respect.

Self respect is where the other four parts of the EMBODIED Self Love Framework get integrated.

When you are more self aware you discover what you need to know, when you know yourself better,  you can accept yourself more, when you are coming from self awareness, knowledge and acceptance, it's easier to trust yourself and when you're doing all four, self respect just makes sense.

In this episode you'll hear me talk about:

  • How you treat and speak to yourself
  • How to not abandon yourself
  • How to use the discernment we talked about during self trust to respect yourself through who and what you prioritize
  • How self respect helps to dissolve people pleasing

...and more

In the sixth episode of the EMBODIED Self Love series we discuss:

[6:47] How people pleasing can be alchemized through self respect

[8:37] Why you need to honor yourself

[11:45] Why you should reserve the right to change your mind

[14:46] What compassion really is

[16:27] Anchoring into your truth and how this alignment will be meaningful to you

[17:36] Why you should steer clear of self abandonment

[21:39] Indicators of self abandonment to watch out for

[23:41] Being more intentional about who and how your loving

[24:01] Reflection questions to ask yourself around self respect

[30:20] Why it’s important to acknowledge how different we all are

I have been teaching about self trust for over seven years now and for this episode, the self trust teaching wanted to come through a bit differently. No doubt, the reason is that trust is harder when tragedy and trauma are rampant because we get pulled into the WHY question? It doesn’t make sense. And it’s not supposed to.

And during these current times we're living through there's a lot of that.

So we question a lot of valid things but can get overly distracted by them. This is why we need to ‘"insource” more than we "outsource" and strengthen our direct connection to the Divine (God, Source, Universe, etc) --and that is the part of the teaching I had to integrate more deeply into today's exploration of self trust

The only intermediary we need is our soul.

In today's episode I cover:

  • How we build trust within ourselves similarly to how we build trust with others.
  • Why we need self trust if we hope to have self love
  • The difference between judgment and discernment
  • How to know which part of yourself to trust, and how to practice self trust when you feel conflicted
  • Big questions people face around self trust like - how to know the difference between fear and intuition, how to know when it's our ego talking, or our trauma or wounds
  • Some universal truths you can choose to place faith in if you want that will help cultivate trust more easily

...and more

I get much deeper into the nuance of these things in the EMBODIED Self Love Mini Course - so if you are working on self trust and want the extra support - check it out here.

In the fifth episode of the EMBODIED Self Love series we discuss:

[4:07] How trust has been an integral part of my body of work as it’s evolved
[5:31] How it takes time to develop self trust
[7:22] Why you can’t separate self trust from trust in the divine
[9:56] Examining what part of yourself your trusting vs. not trusting
[12:26] How fostering a broader trust in the divine will help your self trust
[14:58] One of my biggest mantras during some of the hardest times of my life
[17:15] How trusting yourself helps you trust other people
[20:40] Minding your own business and not inserting yourself in other people’s business
[24:18] Cultivating more energy to be more trusting, open to things that are worthy of you
[25:35] How trust requires surrender and the ability to let go
[27:44] Considering how your choices might impact other people and the world around you
[31:03] Why you shouldn’t hold yourself to impossible standards around things you couldn’t have known
[31:24] Working through the fear of trusting yourself when criticism is present
[33:10] How fear blocks people’s ability to trust in themselves

How do you accept yourself?

Why is self acceptance important?

What does it feel like to have self acceptance?

These are some of the questions we're answering in today's EMBODIED Self Love series episode.

We've already covered the first two principles of the EMBODIED Self Love Framework - Self Awareness and Self Knowledge - and now it's time for Self Awareness.

In today's episode I cover:

  • Why we need self acceptance to have self love
  • The energetic difference between approaching things in your life from an accepting place vs an non accepting place
  • The difference between fighting against and fighting for things
  • How it's easy to accept things when they go well or feel good - but the real work is accepting things when times are taught or not going the way you want
  • The role of kindness, gentleness and forgiveness in self acceptance
  • How to accept things about yourself that you feel shame about
  • Specifically how to accept your body, as a woman, in a culture with so much programming around "what's ideal"

...and more

In the fourth episode of the EMBODIED Self Love series we discuss:
[3:12] Why I rearranged the framework as I was creating it
[5:47] How you can’t have deep embodied love without acceptance
[9:40] How 2020 has been an incredible training ground for self acceptance
[12:54] Questions that are always asked during akashic record readings
[15:23] Why you need to unlearn and discern to get self acceptance and fulfill your purpose
[18:43] How self love allows you to respond with forgiveness and compassion
[19:27] Why the topic of forgiveness can be triggering for many
[22:44] How to accept things that you feel shame about
[28:38] The topic of white fragility and how we feel fragile when shame is present
[33:47] How I use mantras in my work and life
[39:01] Breaking the harmful cycle around shame in your body
[44:20] How I built practices and movement around loving, connecting and healing
[46:18] Learning to appreciate your body for more than just how it looks

How well do you really know yourself?

And why does self knowledge matter so much?

In order to do any of the work of EMBODIED self love, you really do need to know yourself.

You need to know things [for starters] like:

  • What’s ok with you and what’s not ok with you?
  • What excites you what doesn’t?

Life is cyclical. There are phases and changes, which means you should feel free to be someone different than you were yesterday. I always say, "I reserve the right to change my mind." And I can tell you from living that way it won’t always please others. But staying true to who you are moment to moment is a radical act of self love.

Real, deep,EMBODIED self love requires ACTIONS behaviors, habits and STANDARDS!

Self knowledge is the place where we tune into all of that.

In today's episode I cover:

  • Values
  • Priorities
  • "The Power of the Pause" - which is a super helpful reflection technique to learn about yourself and increase your self knowledge in your day to day experiences
  • Aspects of the self and multidimensionality
  • Various tools and systems like Human Design, Enneagram, Astrology and more that help you discover who you really are and how you're built - and discern between what is your conditioning and what is your truth
  • The four stages of learning

...and more

In the third episode of the EMBODIED Self Love series we discuss:

[2:41] Why you need to give yourself room to be who you are right now and room to become someone else
[4:46] Why you don’t need everyone to like you
[5:30] The 5 main values I use for discernment of everything in my life
[7:34] Reasons why I often couple values and priorities together
[10:48] Why you don’t have to take on other peoples priorities
[12:15] Why I don’t fully subscribe to any one personality test or zodiac sign
[15:07] What I realized about making impulsive and intuitive choices
[18:41] Learning to cultivate internal authority
[19:10] The aspects of you versus the whole you and an exercise you can do
[23:38] Discovering what your actual truth is
[28:03] Why I want you to know the value of self knowledge
[31:15] Thoughts on why you should question everything

What does self awareness mean?

How do you improve self awareness?

Is self awareness a skill?

Is self awareness hyphenated?

These are the types of things people search for when it comes to the meaning of self awareness (that last one was included to be funny, but it's actually the number one search result - go figure!)

This is episode 2 in the EMBODIED Self Love podcast series and today we're getting into the first step in the framework - Self Awareness.

Self awareness helps us relate to ourselves and observe how we are actually showing up in life.

It’s a consistent, mindful practice of observing and being honest with ourselves. It's not just about how we think and what our intentions are, it's also about the impact we’re having on others, ourselves, and how things are going through our experiences, behaviors and choices.

Self awareness means calling attention to yourself, with purpose. It’s not always easy or pleasant. Sometimes you won’t like what you see. But when you commit to observing yourself for the sake of knowing, trusting, accepting and respecting yourself, you can do it with more objectivity than scrutiny. Something I've been teaching my clients and students for years is that awareness comes before acceptance and acceptance precedes improvement.

In today's episode I cover:

  • What self awareness has to do with self love
  • The gentleness and curiosity self awareness requires
  • Some questions self awareness helps you answer like:  Who am I being? and How am I showing up?
  • How to be honest with yourself
  • How self awareness helps you to navigate when you're "feeling all the feels"
  • The difference between responses and reactions and how self awareness helps you get better at both

In the second episode of the EMBODIED Self Love series we discuss:

[2:55] Why you can’t improve a thing before first accepting it
[4:24] How a baseline level of self love will make the hard things easier
[4:48] What self awareness truly is and what it helps you to recognize
[7:08] The three things you want to start observing for self awareness
[10:38] Engaging with “feeling all of the feels” to connect and speak with your embodied language
[13:11] The differences between a response and a reaction
[14:58] What it means to be flooded and my experience with this trauma response
[16:53] Why you should avoid self deception
[20:22] How self awareness is an ongoing, lifelong practice

Do you see people talking about self love all the time and wonder, "But how?"

Or get caught up in memes that sound smart or profound but don't get how to actually apply them?

That's how a lot of people approach self love - like it's a thing you will eventually attain if you just focus on it - but here in the EMBODIED Living world, we know it takes more than that. This is why people call me a practical mystic. I'm into all kinds of energy work, psychological study, archetypes, mythology and esoteric shit - AND!! We're still people. We need to be able to apply what we're learning, integrate it into our lives and actually use it to shift, change, grow, heal and evolve.

This is the first episode in an 8-episode series where I'll be guiding you through my EMBODIED Self Love Framework. The framework will help you with self-confidence, embodiment,  real love, loving yourself, trusting yourself, accepting yourself, cultivating healthy love in relationships and so much more.

We'll take a really thorough look at what it means to have self love, how to develop self love, examples of self love, and why self love is so important.

Self love touches so many areas of our lives when we actively engage in it. Like bell hooks teaches, love is something you do, it's a verb.

This first episode in the EMBODIED Self Love series covers:

  • Common self-love teachings and misconceptions that I don't agree with like: "You can’t love others until you love yourself." Or the flip side of that, "You won’t get the love you want until you love yourself."
  • How we learn to love by being in relationship and self love is about developing a relationship with ourselves.
  • The mass confusion of what love is and what it is not; this includes how a lot of our messaging and examples are rooted in codependency, not love.
  • An overview of what the rest of the series will cover: Self Awareness, Self Knowledge, Self Acceptance, Self Trust, Self Respect...and then something I know this audience loves - a whole entire episode on boundaries. And not just healthy boundaries with others, but also how to have healthy boundaries with yourself.
  • Wrap up - where I'm at on my own self love journey right now.

In the first episode of the EMBODIED Self Love series we discuss:

[2:52] The focus of this season around the EMBODIED self love framework that I developed
[3:12] The 5 principles of my framework
[7:11] Common self love teachings that I don’t agree with and misconceptions about them
[10:13] How developing self love isn’t just a state
[11:15] Why you should be curious when you have resistance to something
[14:04] The importance of self awareness and being mindful of how you’re showing up
[15:19] How self knowledge answers the question: Who am I and how am I built?
[17:27] Why you need gentleness for yourself and others
[19:13] The reasons that self trust is critical for following your inner truth
[20:15] How you can’t have love without self respect
[21:05] Where I am at on my own self love journey
[24:25] A talk I participated in that inspired the Embodied Self Love Mini Course

Last week, an acquaintance of mine, Kelly Watkins reached out on Instagram to share a post with me about how she'd be diagnosed with incurable blood cancer and asked if I'd be willing to have a conversation about death and dying on the podcast.

She herself has worked on both sides of life as a nurse in labor and delivery, a hospice nurse, and then outside of western medicine as a death doula, so she has a lot of perspectives to share.

Of course, I said yes and this episode is that conversation.

One of the things we both noticed about midway through the conversation was that we could have gone deeper and tapped into more of the things that people prefer not to talk about AND we felt a sensitivity around the current climate around COVID-19 and the Coronavirus and the mortality and death we're about to be confronted with across the globe - so we trusted that where we did go was perfect.

A few of the threads we pulled in our chat were: being a mother of five under quarantine right now with just one of her babies, what matters most to her right now and why, definitions of grace and the presence of grace in her current experience and experiences she's had with clients and patients over the years, death as a calling, how life and death are connected, how important it is to talk about death, how we need to find ways to be more comfortable with this and more.

As I'm feeling more compelled to approach interviews this year - we just hit record and went until we felt complete, which was about 90 minutes.

I hope you'll be transformed and moved by this tender conversation, share it with loved ones and use it to spark your own inquiries and explorations of your relationship to death and dying and any shifts you may want to make around that.

Big love,

E

This is not the typical conversation about perfectionism, y'all, and I am warning you upfront, that you'll probably want to listen to it at least three or four times.

Today my guest is my dear friend Jessica Fish, who is also (and she would likely not own up to this...) a genius.

Her big truth was around the importance of community and external affirmation.

From there we talked about practicing radical encouragement in your relationships and how we cannot rely on self-regulation alone. We talked about the myth of "inconveniencing people," how we need to be honest about our bandwidth and over-giving tendencies, and all the offshoots of perfectionism like overachieving, having unreasonably high standards for ourselves, and the trap of "high performance."

She also explained how all of this keeps us in individual mindsets which keep us upholding dominant cultural narratives and norms.

She shared an exercise with us that she uses in her Divesting from Perfectionism workshops that literally changes people's lives on the spot, and she walked me through the fantasy of the "Ideal Self" that many of us have, and how it harms us.

We also explored what being in community with people who will hold you compassionately accountable and how we can all leverage the things we're really good at as our contribution to dismantling systems of oppression.

It's a juicy and meaty conversation.

Enjoy!

It's our first crack at the new format and I'm so excited to share it with you!

In this episode you get to be a fly on the wall during some Q+A at one of my Wild Soul Movement Weekend Workshops. At the end of each day, I open it up for questions about anything and everything. Because attendees have been doing healing and embodiment work all day, their questions are thoughtful, nuanced, and deep.

In this session I answer two different questions about navigating adult friendships: The first is around how to support a friend who is stuck and listening to them talk about the same things over and over again has become draining because you don't now how to help them. The other is about how to repair or move forward in a friendship after there's been a fracture, issue or confrontation.

I also got into healing the mother wound, how to cultivate play in your life- especially if you were a parentified child or feel like you have so many responsibilities now, there's no room for playfulness in adulthood. Lastly, I answered a really fun question about my favorite things to include in online dating profiles and the kinds of questions I like to ask potential dates.

Enjoy and let me know what you think!

Wild ones...very excited to share four points with you today in the realm of Love, Dating, Sex + Intimacy.

With Valentine's Day coming up, whether you're single or in a relationship the artificial pressure can get intense. The four things we're getting into today could help you navigate that. And they're also incredibly valuable regardless of the time of year.

The Love, Dating, Sex + Intimacy points I'm covering today are:

  • Chemistry does not equal compatibility
  • What I call, "Medicine for the 'too much' wound." Hint: it has to do with cultivating your willingness to be handled. And I have a great story from an event I taught at in 2015 where this concept was introduced to me.
  •  How people with tough exteriors often also have the most sensitive interiors.
  • And finally, Truth talk for open-hearted people: Physical intimacy without emotional safety is risky business.

Enjoy, share, find me on Instagram or shoot an email over to hello@wildsoulmovement.com and let me know what you think or what resonates for you!

I'm always excited to share guests with you, but this week, I finally got my dear friend Staci Jordan Shelton on the show. It took me over a year...maybe longer. And you will see, it was worth the wait!

Staci's big truth was that she doesn't let people gaslight themselves. From there we discussed what gaslighting actually is and how it functions since it's a term that gets thrown around a lot.

We talked about the importance of context, the difference between shame and accountability and why conflict isn't bad; and we got into why cancel culture isn't the way, but ignoring patterns of behavior doesn't help people get free either.

We also touched on implementation and how sustained change can only happen over time, the lies that hold people hostage, the importance of having hobbies and something I've been thinking about so much in the last year - what it's like to be the strong friend and how to navigate getting the support you need, too, even if people don't think you need it!

Enjoy, share, and let us know what you think!

In a recent podcast listener survey, a lot of you listed trauma and healing under topics you'd like to see explored more in 2020 on the show, so I hope you enjoy today's guest, Irene Lyon who is a nervous system expert and somatic practitioner!

Her big truth was that we're at a point in time where we have the science, research, practices and immediacy to heal deep stuff. We talked about what somatic work is, the difference between the parasympathetic and the sympathetic nervous systems and touched on Polyvagal Theory.

She helped me understand the difference between trauma trained and trauma informed - a very important distinction as we all consider practitioners, guides, teachers and coaches in various areas of our lives.

And we also got into neuroception, our sensitivity to safety or danger, common trauma responses that people might not realize is their trauma talking, and how we can value the health that IS present.

It's a great chat, you might want to listen more than once. Enjoy and share!

It's the final episode in the Journey Into the Wild Soul!!

If you've been tuning in over the last several weeks, you know we've covered all kinds of juicy things, from deep committed practice and the importance of integration, to surrender, releasing, trust, receptivity, passion, purpose, love, truth and how EMBODIMENT is one of the most effective ways to bring it all together and LIVE it.

Might sound like a tall order, but it's actually quite elegant and practical when you get down to it!

In today's episode rather than a year in a review or an entire preview of 2020, I've framed it in a way that integrates the immense reflection, integration and clarity December provided for me.

I have mentioned elsewhere that I was REALLY into moving into a new decade.

What I got really into was reflecting on who I had become, the lessons I had learned and the things, habits, people and etc I had completed with over that decade.

In that reflection were a few things that had to do with BEING SUPER HONEST WITH MYSELF about what has worked in the past and what actually honors who I am now.

It’s always exciting when new truths reveal themselves, and sometimes it’s also inconvenient, but that’s life isn’t it - the best choices are not always the easiest ones to follow or make.

When you are connected to your body, heart, soul and inner authority - you just know better than to ignore the nudges, though.

One last note - just because 2020 has begun, doesn’t mean you can't do this type of reflection yourself if you have yet to or find yourself with the desire after listening to this episode.

Enjoy and let me know what you think!

This is episode five of a six week podcast series I do every year called Journey into the Wild Soul. It's FILLED with gems to explore your inner world to help you have a better outer world experience. (And that is putting it very, very mildly.)

I’ve also opened up a free pop-up Facebook group to get some quality time together as a Wild Soul community before 2020 starts and we get all “hyped up” about a new year. I hope you’ll join me and bring your friends!

Details here - http://wildsoulmovement.com/journey2020

The Journey into the Wild Soul is about reflecting on the year and perhaps years previous, so that we can leave the past in the past as we transition into a new year. As well as to invite you to consider if how you’ve been going about your growth, healing and transformation is really effective or if it’s more performative, obligatory, inefficient, ineffective, or just a distraction.

Our theme this year is WHOLENESS and in this fifth episode I explore the second half of the Arc of POWER - Passion and Purpose and Love and Truth.

If you didn’t hear the first four episodes, that’s ok, you don’t have to go back and listen to it before diving into this one unless you want to. Here are the links if you do: http://untameyourself.com/326

In today's episode we're diving into the second half in the Arc of POWER which is the curriculum in my yearlong women's circle POWER. I walk through the difference and the relationship between passion and purpose, some common misconceptions and hang ups about both and how to use them effectively in your life as guideposts.

Then I get into Love and Truth which are SO BIG, but I delve in from experience of my own and from teaching on this for so long from an embodied perspective, and share some stories, insights and points for you to reflect on.

Enjoy the episode and remember to check out POWER 2020 to see if it's for you!

Our theme this year is WHOLENESS and in this second episode, I'm diving into all things embodiment from concepts to practices to the benefits, why it works, how to develop discernment and speak your body's unique language of the senses and more.

If you didn’t hear the first three episodes, that’s ok, you don’t have to go back and listen to it before diving into this one unless you want to. Here are the links if you do: http://untameyourself.com/326

In today's episode we're diving into the first two topics in the Arc of POWER which is the curriculum in my yearlong women's circle POWER. The topics are Surrender + Release and Trust + Receiving. These two topics help people learn how to work with life in a way that doesn't require so much forcing, pushing, overdoing or exhausting of the will.

They show people how to create space for what they want, trust themselves, ask for the support they need and be open and willing to receive it. Those things might sound simple, but every year I help hundreds of women who struggle with one or all of those things and the outcome is incredible.

Enjoy the episode and remember to check out POWER 2020 (link to wildsoulmovement.com/power2020) to see if it's for you!
