To close out this season of the Embodied Podcast, I’m coming to you solo and exploring the power of feeling and dealing with your emotions. I like to think of it as going out on an emotional LIM: literacy, intelligence, and maturity. It’s so important to go back to the fundamentals and dig into what processing your feelings actually means.
If you’re engaged with life in a growth-oriented way, this work is invaluable and timeless. Regardless of how enlightened or energetically-aligned you are, life has a way of throwing new challenges and tests at you everyday.
Join us back here on January 16th for a new season where we’ll be diving into more healing, joy, and liberation.

Today I’m joined by Josie Pickens, organizer, educator, journalist, and culture critic, to discuss how to be a better lover to yourself, others, and explore intimacy in a more expansive way. Josie unpacks the message behind her essay “Party of One” that was featured in Sex and the Single Woman, and she describes her journey to being in a primary relationship with herself.
We also dive into the juicy healing work that Josie has been doing and the ripple effect that it’s had on her life. We touch on our experiences with non-monogamy and polyamory, and celebrate how younger generations are reimagining what’s possible when it comes to love, dating, and relationships.
Don’t miss this conversation with Josie where we dig into how to be more loving people in a world that tries so hard to get us to not be.

When it comes to the philosophy of non-monogamy, there can be a lot of questions: Is it polyamory or an open relationship? Do we have to tell each other about other partners? Is it a relationship or just sex? Today’s episode is all about intimacy and non-monogamy and how people connect and relate to each other in that world, with lots of nuggets that apply to ALL relationships, whether monogamous or not. In today’s episode, I’m breaking this all down with Marcia Baczynski (aka Marcia B.)
Do you geek out on consent, communication, intimacy, how we relate to each other and connect, and why we engage in romantic and sexual relationships in the first place? You’re not going to want to miss this episode!

Hustle culture has too many people completely burnt out these days. Thinking that you have to constantly be “on” is doing a disservice to your mental, emotional, and physical health—and to your business.
There’s a difference between being “on” all the time and being ready. There’s a difference between hustling and being intentional.
When you are ready, when you stay ready, you can own your skills and step into your expertise.

Christopher Rivas is a multi-talented, multi-dimensional writer, speaker, and storyteller to name just a few of his skills. He’s the author of the soon-to-be published book Brown Enough and creator of the Rubirosa podcast. His work encourages us to ask deeper questions about our culture, our histories, and our relationships to the people in our lives.
Today, he’s the first man I’ve had on the Embodied podcast in two years. Christopher and I talk about how we both relate to our Brownness, how whiteness and capitalism have, intentionally or not, separated us from aspects of our cultural heritage, and how storytelling can connect us with pieces of our history we feel removed from.
Christopher shares story after story with us in this episode, from humorous anecdotes about a ridiculously placed shower to heartfelt recollections of how his work allowed his father to reflect on his own assimilation into white culture.
I hope this episode encourages you to keep digging into your own healing and your ancestral history, to keep reaching out with empathy and understanding to those around you, and to learn to build your own stories that can connect you with your own individual culture and your inner self.
In episode 401 we discuss:
[01:19] An introduction to Christopher and his work on storytelling
[08:43] How Christopher’s dating life helped him to reevaluate what he’d been taught about whiteness, beauty, and culture
[13:02] Defining “body of culture” and how it affects Brown people
[17:31] How Christopher’s father and his assimilation into white culture influenced Christopher’s work
[21:22] The healing effect that Christopher’s storytelling work has had on his father and his ability to connect to his original culture
[27:38] The craziest story about LA and inappropriately installed showers from Christopher’s book
[33:32] How learning a new language can be a deeply humbling and empathic experience
[40:41] How Christopher views climate and infrastructure reform as an opportunity to express empathy and care for our neighbors
[44:15] How Christopher discovered the real James Bond (he was Dominican) and why he became so determined to share this story with the rest of world
[51:39] Why stories like Rubirosa offer everyone, regardless of their culture, an opportunity to challenge their heroes and ask better questions about their history
[59:33] Why accepting your multidimensionality and rejecting the “boxes” society places us in can open you up to new realities

This week we’re celebrating Episode 400 of the Embodied Podcast! I can’t tell you all how much I appreciate your time, your love and your community over these last 400 episodes. It’s been a labor of love, joy, and what I call holy consistency over the years.
On my 39th birthday, inside the Wild Soul Sacred body Community, many of our members shared what the community and the podcast have taught them about life, spirituality, self-love, and coming home to themselves. It meant so much to me, not just because of the out-pouring of love, but also because it captures so clearly what I want this space to be: a healing, grounded, no-bullshit community where we can find and explore our true selves, cultivate more personal relationships with the divine, and learn to appreciate our bodies for a million reasons aside from how they look.
In this upcoming season, I’ll be exploring joy and the way that joy is instrumental in our continued liberation. I want to remind you to keep reaching out for joy, to keep searching for the things that bring you deep and encompassing joy, and to practice the holy consistency that helps to feel joy and create a full, beautiful life for yourself.

About the EMBODIED Podcast with Elizabeth DiAlto
Since 2013 I’ve been developing a body of work that helps women embody self love, healing and wholeness. We do this by focusing on the four levels of consciousness - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
In practical terms this looks like exploring tools and practices to help you tune into the deep wisdom of the body and the knowing of the heart, which I believe are gateways to our souls. Then we cultivate a new relationship with our minds that allows the mind to serve this wisdom and knowing and soul connection, rather than override it, which is what many of us were taught.
If you’ve been doing self help or spiritual development work for a while, these are the types of foundational things that often people overlook in pursuit of fancier concepts that often aren’t practical or sustainable. Here, we will focus on building these strong foundations so you can honestly and thoroughly embody self love. If you’re feeling it, subscribe to the show, and leave us a review wherever you listen from. You can also keep up with show updates and community discussion on Instagram here.
After spending most of my life exploring my sexuality through the lens of monogamy, I discovered a surprising truth about myself: I don’t actually want one romantic partner. This revelation led me to a new way of looking at my relationships and opened the door for me to finally explore non-monogamy.
Choosing to explore love and intimacy through open relationships is a culmination of all my previous romantic experiences, and while some of those were better than others, each experience led me on this path to accepting the kind of love I find so much more satisfying - at least for now!
It’s also offered me a new opportunity to explore the kind of transparency and discernment that non-monogamy requires, and allowed me to lean into my interactions with the Divine and my self-love framework as I accept this new revelation in my romantic life.

It’s a season of beginnings: a new season of the podcast, a new year of living (I’ll be 39 in a few days), a new way of looking at the intimate relationships in my life, and more.
As I move into this new season, I want to take a moment to reflect back on my 39 years of life and some of the most important lessons I’ve learned along the way.
I’m diving into self-love, emotional intelligence, the sacred, humility, relationships, love, and letting these lessons flow through intuitively.
All of these little lessons have led me toward liberation and healing. They’ve allowed me to architect and embrace the peaceful, joyful life that I have.

Mary Magdalene has given me so much and in celebration of Mary Magdalene Feast Day this July 22nd I want to give something to you.
In Episode 397 of The Embodied Podcast I show you how I engage with Mary Magdalene, who to me represents immense compassion and unconditional love.
This world is filled with people who are suffering and sometimes I feel like there is a misconception around unconditional love.
Unconditional love does NOT look like being a punching bag; you do NOT have to sacrifice yourself to manage the feelings of others who are in a worse place than you.
From Mary Magdalene I’ve learned what true unconditional love and compassion actually look like, what it means to have heaven on earth, how to be in my body, how to get out of my head and let my soul take up more space. From today’s episode I hope you learn that you too can have the courage to choose yourself; unconditional love takes strength and your strength can help bring healing to the collective.
P.s. This is the last episode of The Embodied Podcast before my summer break. I hope you have a wonderful summer and I’ll be back on September 12th with new episodes.

Dr. Katherine Lawson is a Mind Body Medicine practitioner who is deeply interested in therapies that stimulate one's capacity for self-knowledge and self-healing through self-care. She focuses on the interactions between the brain, mind, body, and personality, and the powerful ways in which mental, social, spiritual, and behavioral factors affect health and happiness.
Dr. Katherine has been looking at dreamwork, mysticism and psychedelic experiences for almost two decades as a way to help people experience whatever healing and growth is available to them.
Now her biggest work revolves around helping people prepare for psychedelic experiences and in training them how to integrate those experiences into their lives (post the properly guided psychedelic event) for true healing from trauma and complex trauma.
In our conversation, Dr. Katherine explains the overlap of dreamwork, psychedelic work and the practice of embodiment. We also got into aging in an empowered way.
The science is that when your body understands something it sends a message to your brain that changes the way that your brain is wired to respond to certain events. With certain psychedelics, administered at the correct dosage, your brain can no longer hold the space for shame and judgment which frees you to more fully embody and understand yourself.
If you’re ready to learn more about psychedelics as well as what it looks like to age empowered and to let go of hard things, listen to episode 396 now!

Dr. Maya Shetreat is a neurologist, herbalist and astrologer who is bridging science and the sacred. Maya is a conventionally-trained pediatric neurologist but she’s also an herbalist and author of The Dirt Cure and she will be the first to tell you she’s weird. And if that’s true then I am her kind of weird and you might be too!
Maya spent her 20s getting married, having babies, and becoming a doctor. She spent her 30s building a practice and growing her family. By the time she reached her 40s, Maya had checked off all the traditional boxes of “success” and then decided to “burn it down.”
Why? Because she knew the expectations that came from being a wife and a woman in her heterosexual marriage were no longer in alignment with her soul’s purpose and longings on this earth.
In our conversation we dig into what it was like to develop at an early age, what it looks like to pursue non-traditional currencies of “success” instead of money and what it looks like to exercise as a spiritual practice.
As Maya is approaching her 50s she has no desire to return to her former self and is falling more in love with her body, her soul and her purpose with each passing day. Our chat touches on how you can do the same.
In our time together we also discuss Maya’s work with mushrooms and psychedelics (you’ll also learn about my first accidental experience with psychedelics) and Maya’s course on creating fun, play and spaciousness in our lives. If you need to heal from trauma, are looking to create more space in your life to pursue your true heart’s desires or would like to work 1:1 with Maya, make sure you connect on drmaya.com.

Francisca Santibañez is an herbalist, ritualist, wellness guide, medicine maker, educator, artist and founder of Plant Spirit Talk. Francisca believes that plants have a divine purpose that is much greater than existing solely for human pleasure.
Plants heal, they teach you to be grounded in this earth instead of following divisive indoctrination, and they hold imprints from our ancestors; if you sit with them long enough, plants can lead you home.
While in her work connecting with the divine through plant medicine. The plants themselves redirected Francisca to the work she does today which is more energetic and based on her ancestral wisdom and inheritance. It was because of this ancestral work that I first started working with Francisca on my own ancestral healing journey which recently culminated in a life changing calling and trip to Puerto Rico.
In episode 394 you’ll learn how an injury redirected the course of Francisca’s life and then you’ll join our juicy conversation on the wisdom you can gain from plants and the connections you can create with your ancestors as you learn to renegotiate the potential callings on your life.

For Suzanne Barr, one of North America’s most respected chefs, food has to be about more than just an incredible tasting dish; food is joy, it’s happiness, it’s comfort, it’s healing, and understanding where it comes from is part of being an active participant in the human experience.
Suzanne’s book, My Ackee Tree is a book that looks back on the forty plus years of Suzanne’s life including being raised in Plantation, Florida and studying in places like New York, Hawaii and The South of France.
Writing this memoir was a deeply personal experience and in episode 393, Suzanne explains what it was like to accurately recall her past while also allowing space for big feelings, both during the writing process and then again once the book was released.
This episode is one big intimate conversation about food, love, family, and creative courage that covers topics like: communing with our ancestors, understanding where our food comes from, how difficult it is to write a book and why we can all be great cooks when we remove the pressure to be “good” and allow inspiration to lead us.

Chela Davison works with individuals to help them discover the call of their soul and make the meaningful impact they wish to see in their lives.
The core of Chela’s work is to help people meet their calling, discover what it is and develop the capacity to carry it out in the world.
In Episode 392 Chela shares how her calling is evolving and how she is reckoning with that now, in the same way you may need to mourn when a role you’ve previously played no longer is sustainable in your current life. Because let’s be honest, life changes and you need to learn to change with it.
Life, like nature, has seasons, and when you try to operate in an “endless summer,” negating your Autumn, you can enter burnout and/or crisis. You’ll know if you are headed this direction because you might find yourself in the middle of self-sabotage or saying things like “I just want to burn the whole thing down.”
Because life's complicated and multifaceted you might find various parts of your life in different seasons all at once.
Listen to episode 392 to hear how knowing where you’re at in each aspect of life can help you hold space for those dynamic tensions and avoid the suffering that comes from not letting go.

Loving yourself is an all the time thing and in today’s episode I’m specifically reflecting on how to love yourself in 2022 after all we’ve been through. Self-love can feel out of reach, especially in a world that actively feels like it’s falling apart. With a pandemic, wars, hate crimes and what feels like growing violence in our communities, pursuing self-love may seem frivolous or overwhelming but in reality, pursuing self-love is the greatest thing you can do to tip the scales and bring peace to yourself and the world around you.
Today I’m getting into my Embodied Self-Love framework of self-awareness, self-knowledge, self-acceptance, self-trust, and self-respect. The framework is designed to help you fully love your whole self, including your wild soul. It’s different from traditional self-improvement work because rather than teaching you that pieces of yourself are broken, I’m showing you how to love yourself from a place of knowing that you are whole and that not only are you not broken but in fact you can’t break.
Rather than teaching you to do more, to be “better,” self-love shows you what it can feel like to fully embody your whole self; to live as a soul on this earth.
When you love yourself in this way and know you are and whole, you can tap into the best version of yourself and from that place, show up the way you want to, not only for yourself but for your loved ones and your community.
In Episode 391 we take a look at what self-love is, what the wild soul is and how your unique human design can give you clues to what your unique superpower is.
My superpower is self-love and my mission is to help as many individuals as possible learn how to love themselves so that we can tip the scales and bring more healing to this world.
If you want to begin or deepen your self-love journey check out my Self-Love Immersion. It starts June 13th. You can sign up at untameyourself.com/selflove

Or maybe you find that you’re coverconsuing (food, media, the opinions of others) and that overconsumption is robbing you of joy, peace and compassion.
If you’re living your life comparing yourself to others or trying to force yourself to behave and think the way dominant culture suggests you “should”, you might be setting yourself up for disappointment, because regardless of what the coaching world suggests, usually a one size fits all approach doesn’t work for us all.
In today’s episode, I’m sharing how you can begin to unconsume yourself by looking at those things that consistently consume you and then consciously make choices about how to let those things go.
We’ll take a look at how Human Design can help you better understand how you uniquely manifest in this world, we’ll go over the my Embodied self love framework (self-awareness, self-knowledge, self-acceptance, self-trust, self-respect/boundaries), and I’ll show you what it looks like to take a life inventory to see where you might be the most consumed by things that do not serve you.
If you enjoy today’s episode and want to dive deeper into this conversation and into the work of unconsuming yourself, check out my Self-Love Immersion at untameyourself.com/selflove. The immersion is designed to help you do the deep work so that you can come out of it with real deal self love as your super power.

Have you bought into the lie that thinner is better?
I just had my first photoshoot since 2020. It was my first photoshoot since the pandemic and my first photoshoot at my heaviest weight. I was curious how I would feel during the photoshoot and I was also a little worried about how I might feel once I got the photos back (would I like the photos or would I feel uncomfortable with the parts of me that didn’t look “good” in certain lighting or at “unflattering” angles?).
To my happy surprise, I felt confident and sexy during the shoot and when I looked at the photos afterward, I LOVED them. I felt like a proud mama recognizing all the hard work I had accomplished in self-love and embodiment work; seeing my true self shine through in the photos and loving her.
In today’s episode, I’m sharing more about this photoshoot and all of the work I’ve done to truly love myself, my whole self, in the hopes that you will join me and feel empowered in your body at every shape and size.
If you have ever struggled with the lie that you had to be a certain dress size in order to be “sexy,” if you’ve been hurt by people’s unsolicited comments on your body, if you have been hurt by diet culture or fatphobia or maybe you just don’t know how to love your body regardless of your size, sign up for my FREE training on how to Unconsume Yourself, so that you can recover your energy, time, power and peace.

Have you ever had an experience you couldn’t quite explain? Maybe you were lying down in bed and you could feel the presence of someone else even though you were technically alone. Or maybe a loved one passed but every now and then, seemingly out of nowhere, you can smell their particular brand of cigar in your car.
It might sound crazy but these are all examples of experiences I’ve had and there are thousands of similar experiences reported by others; experiences that suggest that life continues even when our physical bodies do not.
What if, when someone dies, they don’t really leave us? We might not be able to physically engage with them, but we can certainly still communicate with them and in Episode 388 of the Embodied Podcast, Lindsay Marino, Psychic Medium and Mentor, shares how our passed loved ones often try to communicate with us.
If you ever had an imaginary friend, felt a deep empathy for someone or knew something about them that you had no way of knowing, thought a passed loved one was trying to communicate with you or are questioning if your experiences are “normal,” you might have the gift of Mediumship. The great news is that you aren’t crazy and you aren’t alone.

Do you love roses? Feel deeply connected to the Divine in nature? Or find symbolism in little things all the time?
Everything around you–from the birds you pass on your morning walk to the numbers on the clock when you wake up in the middle of the night–are symbols, tools for finding meaning in Life. You just have to learn how to look for them.
In today’s episode, I’m chatting with author and mystic Rebecca Campbell about how she finds and connects with symbols in nature, especially flora, in her daily life.
For years, Rebecca has had a deeply personal relationship with roses. She admires them for their duality: a beautiful, soft bloom surrounded by hard thorns. In contemplating the rose, she’s able to connect more deeply with her version of the divine.
And now, she’s released an oracle deck to help others find symbolism and meaning in the natural world. She shows us that every bloom, every leaf, every thorn is a tool for seeing ourselves more clearly.
Join me in today’s episode as I chat with Rebecca about her relationship with roses and how they’ve popped up throughout her spiritual journey. She’s sharing her process for designing her oracle decks, and she’s shedding light on how she maintains a strong marriage while also growing on her own.

Are you aware of how birthing can change you?
We’re not just talking about the birth of children but also the birth of projects, dreams and ideas.
In today’s episode, I’m speaking with Christine Gutiérrez, a therapist, author of I Am Diosa, spiritual mentor, and mother.
As someone who has experienced firsthand an orgasmic birth, Christine uncovers the birthing process and how becoming a mother has shifted who she is internally and externally to the world around her.
We’re both people who are outspoken in our beliefs, integrity and ethical code. We chat about how this impacts the choices we make and the opportunities we pursue.
Listen in as we talk about how her rhythms and cycles have shifted as she’s stepped into motherhood and how she engages with work now. Whether you’re a mother or not, there are a lot of gems in this discussion.
